If I try to pm someone a 404 error comes up every time and I have tried a lot of times to pm people but that dang error keeps coming up.

Ah, you've been using the PM button while viewing a topic haven't you? It doesn't work at the moment with the new PM system, instead go to the Private Messages tab, click "New post" and type in their username, or use the wonderful "Find Username" option if you can't remember their username
