You Learn Something New Everyday

They say 'you learn something new everyday' and while most people in education find that to be true, its usually those little quirky, compeltely random, facts that get associated with the phrase. Like A duck's quack cannot echo.

So here's the place for all those facts, you've just learnt, and maybe the rest of us can learn as well.

I'll start us of with:

I just lernt that there was a Japanise Anime of the Super Mario Brothers. While i'm not 100% sure, i think it was made BEFORE the american series was.

People are still stupid enough to buy the iPhone in Canada, even though Rogers continues to gouge their customers.

Teddy Guinie pigs have very course fur,
unlike other guinie pigs,
who have very silky smooth fur.

Oh, and snapple told me that the statue of Liberty is a lighthouse.
And it was the first lighthouse to have electricity.

I found out by happenstance while pausing the game to check out the design on King Dedede's clothes that in Flat Zone (at least in Brawl, don't know about Melee) all characters are in 2D. It's a nice little feature you're unlikely to notice unless you pause and move the camera around.

probably one a few people will know, but i just found out that if your in 'move pokemon' in the box section on diamond and pearl, pressing the X button will change the white hand you grab pokemon with to yellow. This will allow you to pick up and move, place or switch pokemon without having to go through a secondary menu. useful if your reorganising or moving a lot of pokemon

The lightning that people see is actually the return strike, the strike from the clouds to the ground is visible to high speed cameras. The More You Know!

I learnt, from having a wasps nest in the eve of my house and always have to bat out wasps that flew in my window, that wasps are a lot more docile than I thought as a child. I always used to be scared of them, I thought they would sting me and so I'd run away from them. I recently found out I learnt this behaviour from my mother and I have now unlearnt it.

I learned today that as soon as you think about ordering another copy of a video game that disappeared in the mail, as it was being shipped to you, and after you've gotten your money back on it cuz the postal tracking program told you it vanished somewhere between Wyoming and Minnesota nine months ago, the game will magically arrive.
