double posting is frowned upon because really all your points should go into one post... and since we supply an edit button, if you do make a post and then suddenly think up something else to say, you can edit your previous post and add it in.

It avoids leading to a thread in which it looks like somebody is talking to themselves. Forums differ from chatrooms in that there is structure to each message and conversation looks and flows much better on a forum if each post is made by a different member than the same person over and over writing a few words or a sentence at a time.

I think there are a few exceptions, though.
Such as, you're in an rp and there has been a while with no activity,
and you want to start it up again,
or if you have an art thread you're updating.
Or if Ace and Roy want to update the rules,
and want people to know it's updated.
Otherwise, it's preferred the edit button is used.
This just makes everything flow better,
and makes the forum seem more respectable. ^_^
