Hmm Mushrooms are plants. THey need the soil of the eath for their roots. Far enough downthey could probably reach an underground stream, but hmm...they don't NEED the earth to get the water, I don't think. Maybe something dealing with the soil? IOr the nutrients it might possibly provide the plant?
