The use of and value of Pika Points

I haven't been a member of this forum for very long but I've noticed I've been gaining 1 'Pika Point' for each message posted. I'm guessing this is a forum currency like I've seen elsewhere, but I can't seem to figure out what it's used for here, nor the value of it.

Money is essentially a medium used in exchange of goods and services. Obviously this idea is liquidated on a simple forum but I don't see any use of Pika Points. I see plenty of members hoarding Pika Points which, at 1 per post, seems to indicate that there's nothing to spend them on. Perhaps I'm wrong, but is there a use for Pika Points here?

Your uses for pika points are a bit limited, but there are some. Some members offer services, such as banners and avatars in exchange for PP. There is also a custom title shop where you can purchase custom titles for a certian amount of time, unfortunatly due to the price value in there about to change, that hasnt been updated on our side.

There will be shop for additional clothing items for the custom character feature, which will use the points.

So how much is a Pika Point worth? It seems the cheapest custom title requires me to obtain 100 Pika Points and that will only last me a month. It's a bit excessive surely? Or are Pika Points severely overvalued?

Which is why we're re-evaluating the priceing system in there, which will change at some point.

But what about people like you? You have over 1,000 Pika Points. Reducing the cost of custom titles will help people like me out but will leave people like you with an excess of Pika Points and nothing to spend them on. Isn't that just devaluing the Pika point further?

to be honest, i've been saving my pika points to buy a perminant title, which currently is at 1000pp (and until you mentioned it, i never realised i was over that, so thanks for pointing it out).

like i say, there should be a shop for the custom trainer feature on the forums, so that's more things to spend money on. I (and a coupe of others) used to exchange PP for actual Pokemon in Diamond and Pearl, but lack of time for the lot of us closed our shops.

And if i have excess i dont know what to do with, i'll probably create a competition to give them away to some lucky person

That's not creating a need for Pika Points though, that's just devaluing them further if they're so worthless you are essentially giving them away. I understand this isn't real money so things aren't going to be taken as seriously, but as far as I understand currently the only thing to do with surplus Pika Points is give them away?

Personally I think the staff need to brainstorm ideas to stimulate the forum 'economy' and create a value for the Pika Point. Bringing down the custom title cost is definetely a step in the right direction and I think eventually if the Pika Point becomes worth something it is a very good medium for the exchange of PokÃ©mon in Diamond and Pearl but right now I know I would not use it. Why would I when I have no gain from it? I can't use it for anything, really.
