Quite simply, I'm looking forward to playing Pokémon Heart Gold for one main reason: the nostalgia. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this. Not only is Pokémon Gold my favourite Pokémon game but it's also the one I plowed the most hours into (~500 ) It's also the game with the most level 100 Pokémon I've got, at around ~11. Basically, I played Pokémon Gold a lot.
Playing Pokémon Heart Gold is going to remind me of my childhood time spent playing Pokémon Gold, but also of the hype surrounding Pokémon at the time. The fad started to wear off after Red/Blue but it was still pretty popular. Pokémon was shown on terrestrial TV and the newest Pokémon movie had a cinema release (the last one) and you could find Pokémon cards almost anywhere. Good times, I hope these games live up to the lofty heights their predecessors set.

Re: Nostalgia
Yes, I am looking forwards to it for those reasons, as well.
They were definitely my most-remembered games.
I loved them as a kid!
I just hope they allow you to go to Kanto again.

Re: Nostalgia
while Crystal has been my favorite of the Pokémon games, I too am looking forward to these for the nostalgia... Gold holds a lot of memories for me for various reasons, it was the first imported game I bought for one.
I'm glad they did include Kanto in HG/SS - there was no excuse not to really. If a GAMEBOY cart can fit both regions into it, a DS cart surely will - and it wouldnt be a remake if they werent there.

Re: Nostalgia
So far, the only generation of Pokemon that I don't have a game from is the GSC era. I know disappointing. I think I might get one of them.
If they do include Kanto, it better not be that stripped down disappointing version that they had in GSC. I would like Kanto to be at least equal or slightly better than the one they had in FRLG.
