Previously Revealed Information

Post by Ryan659 »

Edit @ 19/05/10: Left the topic as is to be read later for archive purposes.

So it looks as though yet another generation of Pokémon has started to have been revealed. It's surprisingly, really, how ideas can keep going for designs, even if they're tied into another generation.

The first Pokémon to be revealed:
Spoiler: show
Image
Zoroark
Dark type, Monster Fox Pokémon.

Image
Zorua, the "prevolution" of Zoroark.
Dark type, Evil Fox Pokémon.

Zoroark is catchable via the event involving the shiny dogs, given away at the 13th movie. Its and Zorua's ability is known as Illusion, which allows them to look like other Pokémon.

And later revealed, the logos of the first 5th gen games, Pokémon Black and White:

Images of the redesigned overworld:
Spoiler: show

Pokémon Centre - Note the counter that looks like a part of the Mart

A cave

The starting town

The player crossing a bridge with traffic underneath - Possibly Hiun City
Then, some battle screens:
Spoiler: show

Zoroark vs Zorua

More Zoroark vs Zorua

Zoroark using Illusion

Zoroark transformed!

Zoroark's Illusion broke

The new male/female icons have been shown here too, these are shown below:
Spoiler: show

And then the new starters:
Spoiler: show
Image
Shown is Mijumaru, the water starter; Tsutaji, the grass starter; and Pokabu, the fire starter.
Note that these names are true for the Japanese version only; they'll probably change for the English version.
Also, some information with related pictures:
Spoiler: show
Apparently, the region will be known as the Isshu region, with the protagonists being older than ever. One of the towns, a port town, is known as Hiun City, pictured below.

Hiun City:

Re: The Fifth Generation

Post by Pikachu3828 »

I'm not sure what to make of them. I'm surprised they're revealing the fifth gen so early, they're not even giving any time for people to be content with HG/SS in the west before dangling a new carrot in front of their faces

As for the designs they're looking pretty good, an improvement over some of the last gen at least. It seems Pokémon has taken a more 'evil' design slant lately, whereas all the Pokémon with the exception of Mewtwo were relatively innocent in the original 151. If that makes any sense.

While I agree with you that it hasn't been long since HG/SS has been out, it's been 4 years since diamond & pearls been out. Munchlax (the first 4th gen to be released) debuted 2 years prior to that, so it's been 6 years total. So it's been longer than you think

I personally like zorua, but as someone mentioned in our irc room, zorua looks a little like shinx

6 years since the first D/P Pokémon was revealed? 4 years since D/P was released? :-o It's been longer than I realised. Is that about the average length of time between one generation and another?

No, average time I believe is 3 years, so this is the longest gap... Ironically though it will be the first to be built for the same console as it's previous generation. While g/s was playable on the original gameboy, it was built for the gameboy colour.

When I saw its silhouette a while ago I thought it looked a bit like Lucario with a Linoone on its head. ._."

But now that I can see what it actually looks like, I think it's pretty interesting.

It looks like the official Japanese site has confirmed it, at least.

And, for those who can read it: http://www.pokemon.co.jp/info/game/g100215_03.html

What, are you basically saying that corocoro magazine, a leading japanese magazine that has specialised in Pokemon manga, news and exclusive reveals since the late 1990's, isnt official confirmation?

At least the main site has cleaner pictures...

As far as I can see, the official site has revealed no new information than what was in corocoro magazine. They just had some clearer pictures (which reminds me, must get those pictures)

I wasn't saying CoroCoro wasn't official, I was just saying that the main Pokémon website for Japan's revealed them too.

What, no bump for new info... well i'm an admin around here - so imma bumping...

new look for the game looks good... i'm especially loving the new pokemon center look, though i'm interested to know why the changes. i've heard someone speculate that the new region is a bit further away than any of the other regions (so not in japan anymore), but that's obviously a guess and not even one of mine (so it mean's its less likely to be compleltly incorrect then)

Yeah...I've been changing the first post without anyone knowing.

Anyway, logos added and new overworld/battle screens from CoroCoro added.

On a side note, I think it's cool how they're using 3D much more now...Although, it then raises questions as to why they haven't done it before, after all, there have been games released on full 3D on the DS with no problems. But yeah, I like the look. Now all we need to know is, well, everything else...

I thought I didn't see the Pokémon Black/White logos in the first post when I first read this topic :-P

Added clearer pictures, and added an extra screenshot of the player going over a bridge with traffic underneath - something not seen before in any Pokémon game.
