New starters
To coincide with the new poll we have on the main site, what do you think of the new starters? Right now the poll only has 4 answers as it only went up yesterday evening but so far the most popular answer (by 1 vote) is that they are the best generation yet.
While I will agree I don't think they're the worst generation of starters (I didn't think very much of D/P's starters at first but they've since grown on me and I'm not very fond of R/S's starters) equally I don't think they're the best generation. The original R/B starters or G/S starters still hold that crown in my opinion.
Also, which of the new starters do you think you will pick? I'm leaning towards the grass or fire starter at the moment.

Re: New starters
they've definatly grown on me faster than the D/P starters... i was very late to the 3rd Gen so i think i was only introduced to them when i got the game, so i just went with it at that point.
That said, the water starter is going to take a bit more getting use to, he's a bit weird... then again, he could have some awesome evolutions.
I think i may go with the fire one this time around... i've done a LOT of grass starters in the past so i might not use grass just for that reason

Re: New starters
Conversely I may go with the grass starter this time around simply because I have never chosen the grass starter before and this is the first generation that the grass starter has appealed to me.

Re: New starters
Opinion seems to be quite divided on the starts. The poll keeps bouncing around the place, it had 3/4 options split at one point with equal votes on each option. Seems at the moment the 'worst generation' option is winning.

Re: New starters
I'm gonna be going for the grass one this time round.
I've favourited the water starters on every generation so far, but I just can't bring myself to like this generations water starter.

Re: New starters
I don't think I've come across a single person yet that has really liked this generation's water starter.

Re: New starters
I'm holding out full judgement until i see it's Evolutions... there has been times in the past when i havent been impressed with the starters, but they've grown on me because of their evos, Mudkip and Turtwig spring to mind... so yeah, i think it can be saved thanks to some kick * evolutions

Re: New starters
Same, but I've got to like the initial starter as well. Currently, I like Pokabu the most out of the three, but can't help thinking it might have some evolutions that don't appeal to me. Meanwhile, Mijumaru's not ugly, just not cute enough, but it might end up looking pretty decent by its last stage. I don't know what to say about the Grass-type, it might end up similar to Treecko. Cyndaquil is still my favorite starter, since I like all of its forms.WhoKnows_WhoCares wrote:I'm holding out full judgement until i see it's Evolutions...

Yeah, it depends, I'll have to see their evolutions first. I'm not choosing water definitely until I see what it's evolutions are.

Re: New starters
I'll be picking the water type. The reasoning is because the water type is a sea otter and a sea otter was hermione granger petronius in harry potter

Re: New starters
I'll be picking the Grass type cause it looks like it has an attitude
It's just got those eyes that say 'I'm better than the others, pick me'
Plus another reason is cause the water type really doesn't appeal to me, but I might get Poke Black and get it, cause if I don't get it, no one will!
The fire one, Piggy, as I don't know the actual name, is kinda okay but I don't like his ears. (Does that sund weird? )

Re: New starters
I am definitely more attracted to these than the D/P ones.
I still dislike the D/P ones, actually....
And the only R/S one I really liked was Mudkip.
G/S and R/B are definitely still the best,
but I think these new guys are definitely better than the last two gens.
Except the water thing, although i do admit it's grown on me much faster than that fire monkey.
Oh, and true to my nature, I think I'll choose the fire pokemon.
For some reason, I always end up choosing that (except in d/p).
maybe I'm just attracted to the colors or something.
...But just watch, that water thing's gonna be the most ueber one. XD
