Re: Gym Leader Competition
Gym Type: This gym centers around pokemon that level up through friendship
Gym Traps/Puzzles: The only way to proceed is through teamwork with your pokemon. This gym allows you to chose one of your pokemon to help you through puzzles. When you enter you are presented with two rooms. One you can walk through, and the other is entered by your pokemon team member of choice. Don't worry about not being able to use it in battle. You two will reconnect before each trainer challenge.
In these two rooms you are both required to step on a switch which will allow your partner to proceed. Example being if the trainer stepped on a switch, a pathway will be available to the pokemon to click their switch. By them stepping on their switch, the trainer's pathway extends more to the next switch. So on and so forth. For each gym trainer a path will connect trainer and pokemon so you can properly battle.
When the challenger and pokemon reach the back of the gym together they can battle the leader.
Gym Leader: more sketches and art can be provided at anytime. These are simple roughs of the design.

Re: Gym Leader Competition
Theme:
This entry will be based around the signature Pokemon of former leaders of the Elite Four.
These Pokemon represent some of the best of the best, can you handle the challenge?
Layout:
This gym has no trainers! Instead there are a series of eight gates where you must answer semi-randomized questions on various elite four members and general Pokemon knowledge. Every wrong answer gets you teleported back two gates.
Gym Leader Clarissa
Leader Clarissa is tan and green-eyed with knee-length brown hair that is held in two ponytails with red bands. She wears baggy red cargo pants with dark gray pockets, an open dark gray vest, exposing a red midriff top. She has dark gray sneakers. On her wrists are red bracelets. There are spikes on the hair elastics and bracelets.
Clarissa: Can you defeat the legends of the Pokemon League?
Pokemon:
The one with the type advantage over whatever the trainer's starter was:
♂ Chlorophyll - Life Orb - Modest
Solar Beam, Sunny Day, Sludge Bomb, Growth
or
♂ Solar Power - Timid - Heat Rock
Sunny Day, Fire Blast, Roost, Solar Beam
or
♂ Rain Dish - Leftovers - Bold
Rapid Spin, Scald, Rain Dance, Dragon Tail
♂ Multiscale - Lum Berry - Jolly
Dragon Dance, Outrage, Fire Punch, Roost
or, if rematched.
♀ Mold Breaker - Choice Band - Adamant

♂ Marvel Scale - Sitrus Berry - Bold

♀ Pressure - Black Glasses - Adamant
Shadow Sneak, Sucker Punch, Pursuit, Will O' Wisp
♂ Flame Body - Chesto Berry - Modest

Re: Gym Leader Competition
The Disaster Gym
Theme:
This gym is based around natural disasters, and the Pokemon who cause them.
Layout:
The 'trap' of the gym goes through different natural disasters in six rooms.
The first is warning sirens going off, erratically flashing lights, and roadblocks set up making a confusing maze. Houses a gym trainer who uses the normal type.
The second is after a volcanic eruption. There are floating rocks on the lava the trainer must jump on and off. Houses a gym trainer who uses the fire type.
The third is a flooded room filled with treacherous whirlpools. The trainer mus surf through this room. Houses a gym trainer who uses the water type.
The fourth is in a state of constant earthquake. Tremors shake the room, while boulders that will damage the person's lead Pokemon for 1HP each if touched roll around. Houses a gym trainer who uses the ground type.
The fifth room is a perpetual blizzard with low visibility, and a headwind that makes progress difficult. Houses a gym trainer who uses the ice type.
The 6th room also has heavy winds, but these constantly change direction. An occasional particularly heavy buffet will knock a trainer several squares in that direction. Houses a gym trainer who uses the flying type.
Gym Leader:
Sketch, cuz of time
Gym leader Clarissa wears a dark gray hoodie jacket with red reflective bits on it. Her long gray pants share this. Red shoes, hair in hoodie. Goggles on head.
Clarissa: I hope you're prepared for an emergency!
Pokemon:
♀ Super Luck - Lum Berry - Jolly
Sword's Dance, Future Sight, Superpower, Night Slash
♀ Solid Rock - Leftovers - Calm
Eruption, Stealth Rock, Earth Power, Toxic

Earthquake, Dragon Dance, Waterfall, Stone Edge
♂ Snow Warning - Focus Sash - Quiet

Re: Gym Leader Competition
Gym Type: Ghost and Psychic-type
Gym Layout: The Nightmare gym is situated in the middle of a large forest. It is an old manor with its own batch of secret passages and tunnels. The challenger is able to enter through the front door but only darkness greets them. Further progress inside reveals a series of traps, some of them quite dangerous, like needles tipped with semi-paralytic toxin. A team of Alakazams and Sableyes trained to be experts in telekinesis and stealth. The objective is to make the challenger use speed and instinct to avoid the attacks with minimal injuries. Once the traps are over, the challenger finds themselves stepping on a staircase that becomes a chute leading to an underground chamber, where awaits Spiritomb. The challenger has to face his/her worst nightmare, and can get out of that room only when they've awakened. The corridor leading off from the room takes the trainer back upstairs where the Gym Leader waits.
Gym Leader: Gender- Female; Skin-color- Tan; Hair- Black with midnight blue streaks, cut very short with bangs shielding her eyes; Eyes- Black; Clothes- White shirt and trousers, black turtleneck, knee-length midnight blue coat, arm-guard with slots for keeping pokeballs, rectangular glasses perched on her nose, a single scar starting from under her right eye and ending near her lips.
Pokemon:
Spiritomb
Dream Eater, Sucker Punch, Dark Pulse, Hypnosis
Sableye
Metal Burst, Punishment, Shadow Ball, Foul Play
Dusknoir
Shadow Sneak, Shadow Punch, Astonish, Pursuit
Alakazam
Confusion, Psybeam, Psycho Cut, Psychic
Hypno
Confusion, Poison Gas, Synchronoise, Zen Headbutt
Espeon
Future Sight, Tackle, Quick attack, Tailwhip
Badge: "Congratulations. You've proved yourself to be a trainer of commendable will-power. This is the Nightmare Badge. I hope it will help you remember how to face and overcome your fears. Good luck!"
A circular badge made of special crystal that appears to have a swirling black mass inside which makes it look like a vortex.

Re: Gym Leader Competition
Gym Type: Grass Type/First Gym
Gym Traps/Puzzles: This gym is a very simple straight shot to the Leader, forcing challengers to go through two trainers to reach him. Don't want to make things too complicated for someone's first go at a badge, after all.
Gym Leader: Mordecham is a tall young man with brown hair and blue eyes. He wears glasses, and is casually dressed in jeans and a black open-front hoody, showing a T-shirt with a Pokeball on it beneath. He stands in a relaxed pose, holding a Pokeball. (Yes, I am totally describing myself in appearance. If I can possibly get a me-sprite out of it, why wouldn't I? )
Pokemon:
♂ level 12
♂ level 14
Pokemon Moves:
Shroomish
Ability: Poison Heal, Nature: Hardy, Item: Toxic Orb
Absorb
Tackle
Energy Ball
Leech Seed
Bulbasaur
Ability: Overgrow, Nature: Modest, Item: Miracle Seed
Leech Seed
Energy Ball
PoisonPowder
Venoshock
Badge: Sprout Badge (named for my first Pokemon and the inspiration for the gym, a Bulbasaur of course). Depending on the style of the other badges in this league, the Sprout badge either looks like the bulb from a Bulbasaur's back (for the round, old-style badges) or looks like a green shoot with two small leaves at the top (for the long, Unova-style badges). Personally, I like the first one better, but the badges really should match.
Mordecham also awards TM53 Energy Ball.
Additional Notes
My original plan was to supply progressing teams, becoming steadily stronger and harder depending on which badge this would earn, culminating with a final rematch team, but it turns out I just don't have enough time to throw all those stats together before this contest ends. For those interested, the final rematch team would've consisted of Breloom, Cacturne, Ludicolo, Torterra, Tropius, and Venusaur. The Torterra would've been Adamant with Crunch, Earthquake, Rock Slide, and Seed Bomb...but sadly I never got further than that.
I also planned to have the Pokeball held and possibly the one on the T-shirt in Mordecham's sprite to upgrade depending on when he was challenged, so that it might be a Pokeball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, or even a Master Ball for the rematch version.
I guess I'll just have to settle for the First Gym version. C'est la vie; at least I have an entry in.

Levitation Gym
Theme:
The theme of this gym is Pokemon with the ability levitate. I hope you don't rely on ground types!
Layout:
The levitation gym, is fittingly enough built around floating. A series of springboards and fans will launch trainers across various gaps until they reach the leader.
Gym Leader:
The leader is a tan girl with loose knee length brown hair. She wears two white wing shaped hair ornaments on the sides of her head, and small white wings on the sides of her gray sandals. She appears to be floating slightly in the air. She wears a long red jacket with dark gray trim and and red shorts with dark gray cuffs. What of her shirt can be seen through the jacket is gray.
Clarissa: Who is it that floats to me on this ill-fated breeze?
Pokemon:
♀ Levitate - Life Orb - Timid
Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball, Hidden Power, Thunderbolt
♂ Levitate - Leftovers - Calm
Rapid Spin, Ice Beam, Recover, Haze
♀ Levitate - Black Sludge - Bold

Swords Dance, Power Whip, Return, Sleep Powder
♀ Levitate - Sitrus Berry - Modest
Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Hidden Power, Grass Knot
Levitate - Sitrus Berry - Relaxed
Stealth Rock, Gyro Ball, Toxic, Earthquake
Clarissa: Leave this place, and float away now that you have your badge.
Badge:
Hope Badge. A pair of white wings with a gold border.

Re: Gym Leader Competition
AND DONE. This competition is now closed, any entries that do not have the minimal requirements as set out in the rules are now disqualified.
We'll start the judging asap, but since there's a lot of cool entries... and we have to make a few little bits for prizes, please be a little paitent with us. We're aiming to have all the winners announced by the time 2013 starts.
