PICTURE WAS HERE
As you can see from the image above....
A) I am logged in as pokemaster
B) I have leveled up Powerchu's Kakuna and evolved it in to A Beedrill
C) it says "You recorded Beedrill in your Pokédex as caught!"
(I already have Beedrill registered as Caught as I evolved my own)
Error with wording or code???

error in coding - whenever you evolve someone's pokemon that message displays - it does not register it as caught in your dex though... but if you've never seen one, a seperate message apears to tell you you've now seen it.
