i think giovanni just wanted to make his own evil company to get rare, strong pokemon.

Your all wrong. It was Giovannis mum who was greedy to be rich and have strong pokemon. Giovanni followed his mothers way and kept a persian to give him money.

Giovanni speaks of his mother's ambitions to start a company whose sole purpose is to steal Pokemon and makes vast amounts of money. I don't remember when he says this. Giovanni just inherited his mother's business and continued & expanded it to greater levels.
