Pokemon Myths

Post by Yellow-Chan »

Well, since there wasn't already a topic, I made one.
Since Pokémon first came out, there have been rumors that have gone around. Some true, some not, and some that can't be answered. For an example, I believe every one should be well acquainted with our old friend "Pikablu", supposedly a super rare Pokémon, even rarer that Mew. Well it is, because it doesn't exist. Well any way, that's not a Myth. It's a false rumor made up by some random person. When I say myth, I mean a rumor that can neither be proven true or false, So the Mew isn't one, despite what the Pokédex may say. A “trueâ€￾ myth would be more along the lines of Glitch City really being Dark Town, (The City in the anime that had two gyms.) or more well know, Ash’s father rumors. Unless Satoshi or a Gamefreak comes out and says it, it can nether be proved or disproved.

To help you along here’s a format for possible Myths:
Name: (a name or nickname of sorts will do fine. Basically sum it up in one to four words)
Description:
How can I be proved or disproved: (Any thing will work here; facts, theories, ect. Why it could be true or not. If you don’t know, just say so.)
Conclusion: (Is it a Myth?)
You don’t have to use this; it’s just the basic info we’ll need to discuss a myth, and separate the true from the false

This is purely for fun, so lighten up. Don’t take it too seriously, okay? Enjoy! ^_~

I doubt glitch city has any bearings in relation to Dark City; glitch city is just that, glitched. It wasn't intentionally placed there and as evident by the fact it's fixed in FR/LG, it wasn't meant to be there either.

Please do not PM me about bugs on the Adoption Agency. Instead, make a topic in the bugs forum.

I know, but I heard it some where, so I thout I'd post it. Just another senceless rumor that's probably not true, and is unlikey.

Glitch City

Post by playinetgames »

There is a Glitch City. All you have to do to get there is go to the the Safari Zone. Note: This is for Red and Blue. Talk to the safari guy and say you want to enter. go in. go back out immediately without taking any steps. when you get out the safari guy will act like you're entering the Safari Zone. tell him no. once you get out of the Safari Zone house, you have 200 steps to go where you want to go. Each city and place has its own Glitch City. For example: Cycling Road. Go to Cycling Road and ride around until a window pops up and says times up. you will get transported to a city with jumbled pixels all over the place. You have reached the Cycling Road version of Glitch City! There are many more Glitch Citys!

Sorry that's a glich, not only that, it's been proven that it exsist, it's not a rumor.... It falls more into the catagory cheat.

Name: Glich City
Description: A "city" with messed up data.
How can I be proved or disproved:
1. Enter the safari Zone, exit but when the guard ask if you want to leave say "No", Save, turn of your game, turn it back on, fly out, walk around until it says "ding dong, your times up!" and vol-la, Glitch City!
2. GameShark: walk
Conclusion: Proven, not a myth.

For fun:
Name: G/S Safari Zone
Description: The Safari Zone is in Gold and Silver, but didn't make it to the final cut. (Suposedly because fear of a new Glitch City) The data is still in the game.
How can I be proved or disproved: Game shark codes
Conclusion: Proven, not a rumor.

Name: B-button Super Attacks
Description: Holding B scores critical hits.
Proving Factor: Try half of the time holding B and the other half not and compare results.
Verdict: Busted - The critical hit rates are the same, B held or not (though I actually do it for luck).

That reminds me of another one even i used to subscribe to for the longest time

Name: Increaesd capture rate of Ultra Balls
Description: by holding Down on the D-pad and the B button on the original R/B/Y games, the catch rate of an ultra ball would increase. Also holding U+B did the same for Great Balls
How can I be proved or disproved: you could probably look at the base code to see if this was true. Although it seemd to be effectives, its like having a rock to keep tigers away - if your in the middle of New York, you dont really know if its working or not.
Conclusion: it's probably a bunch of magikarp - but that didnt stop me doing it from getting Red all the way up to Ruby/Saphire.

Name: catch Pokemon easier
Description: In the DS games, when catching a Pokemon, as the ball closes, yell "Catch 'em" or something similar into the mic and the Pokemon will be caught.
Proof: try half the time doing it, and half the time not. Compare the catch percentage.
Conclusion: It works for me. I'm not sure if it's true or not though- I mean, when I do it, it seems to work, but when some of my friends try it, it doesn't work. However, when some do it, it works. Perhaps it's the timing. Or, it may just be plain luck. I just don't know... But, it does seem to work for me, so I always say it into the mic, for luck. It also seems like louder and softer than normal voices don't work properly.
