I think. pokemon is going to stop if Satoshi Tajiri passes away :'(
Because he was the mastermind behind pokemon and I dont think Game freaks or nintendo will do a good job without him.

I think they should stop after they release D/P! I mean, you can never
really catch them all...

Which is why they dropped the slogan "Gotta Catch 'em all" before Ruby and Sapphire was released.

i think they're going to keep on going. i mean most of the people in TPC want the games and everything and watch the shows and well the people who make the pokemon are most likely not going to stop ...makes me curious how many generations of pokemon there will be...hmm

Mario? Dead? Far from it. x_x

I think that pokemon should begin to slow down after the next \4th\ generation. Most of the original players have outgrown it. On the other hand, there is the possibilty for new consumers. I'd wouldn't be surprised if a kid, who has never even heard of pokemon, would just buy Diamond and Pearl. After playing for a few day they would get the geist of it. Unlike others, for example, Harry Potter; people who have not read/watched the first few books/movies are not going to go out of their way to buy the newest book. It's very easy to get involved with pokemon. And for each lost consumer, it's just as easy to replace one because it's so easy to get started.

I lost track of the new pokemon when Sapphire and Ruby came out. But I think new pokemon are good. I mean, they're supposed to look like animals. There are thousands, millions of different kinds of animals in real life......
I have only one objection to new pokemon.
They seem to be getting really ugly!

I agree the new pokemon are getting ugly, same with the new cards but at least the TV show is getting better.. honestly, I think this will be the last generation of pokemon.

It depends on the fans doesn't it? Som eprefer this Pokémon to that one if you get my drift. Like there are some that simply look better in some peoples opinion so they are glad the series continued. An ideal way for them to end it would be better if the Pokémon had the same amount of area as the real world, so try to connect the regions to the real world and we should be able to determine how many regions are left that could be created. This should be done using both the anime and games.

well considering all the regions from the main games are apart of the same country (based of japan), you've only really got the Oree, Fiore and Almia to pin down (and Fiore and Almia are supposed to be close together anyway)...

my point is... there's a whole wide world still to be shown in terms of pokemon

Since creating this topic I have realised that ss long as it remains profitable, Pokémon will remain going. Nintendo has a habit of milking its franchises and Pokémon in particular is a multi-billion dollar franchise and new game releases still top games sales charts. They won't stop anytime soon.

In my opinion, they should have stopped at Gold/Silver, with a few pokemon such as Metagross and the Regis thrown in. The new Diamond/Pearl pokemon look sort of goofy to me, and I liked when pokemon used to be referred to as "Pocket Monsters". I don't think anyone is going to look at Kricketune or Buizel and say, "That's a Pocket Monster, just like the old ones". Charizard and Abra, however, would qualify as true pokemon at first glance.

Gold and Silver was the best era, in terms of the game, new Pokémon, and anime. It's pretty much downhill after that, although there are still a few good things. However, I think the eventual Gold and Silver remake will be the last game I get.
