Moveset for Latios?

Post by Pikachu3828 »

I'm trying to decide what would be a decent moveset for Latios on Ruby, I was thinking maybe:

Latios @ Soul Dew
Dragon Dance - To boost it's physical speed and attack
Earthquake - To make use of Dragon Dance
Recover - Uh....to heal
Psychic - I've always loved this move, very powerful

But Latios is susceptible to Bug, Dark, Dragon, Ghost and Ice Pokémon, of which that moveset above does not completley cover. If an opponent pulls out a Dark Pokémon I'm stuck with Earthquake because Psychic won't have any affect - but what if they use a Pokémon like Murkrow? Earthquake won't hit either, so I can't attack at all!

If they were to pull out a ghost Pokémon, like, say, Duskull, Duskull can learn Disable and if they were to disable psychic I'd have nothing to attack them with since Earthquake doesn't affect ghost types :? If they were to pull out Latias there's not much it can do either.

Any suggestions on improvements? Please give reasons for all your answers.

Well, Latios isnt much of a physical attacker, even with dragon dance. So get rid of dragon dance and earthquake for like... Dragon Claw or Ice beam... You know. Also, Calm mind or Refresh would be good too. Meh, but you already have a good moveset, just watch out for anything else. Or have another pokemon back him up.

One thing... not all Ghosts are immune to Ground attacks, only Duskull, Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are due to the ability Levitate. EDIT: I also forgot to mention Misdreavus.

Well, I'm a Team Strategist Moderator at another site, so let's see if I can help.

Latios@Soul Dew
Nature: Can you tell me?
Ability: Levitate
Attacks:

Dragon Claw- With Soul Dew and Latios good Special Attack, this is a powerful move. Also covers weakness to Dragons.
Psychic- Necessary for any Psychic Pokemon.
Shadow Ball- Takes care of Ghost Pokemon. Only use on Ghost due to less than perfect Attack.
Recover- To take care of damage done to Latios by his weaknesses.

I'm not the best with Legendaries as I don't use them. Here's moveset I think will work.

Interesting. Maybe if you stick around and show yourself to be a friendly member I could make you a Team Strategist here, we don't have any.

Thanks for your suggestions, but I haven't actually managed to catch Latias yet, I was wondering what a good moveset would be for him when I do capture him.

You could just do the same or if you are doing 2 vs 2 battles, have Latias counter Latios' weakness. But all thats left is bug, and there arent much strong bug type attacks around. Nidoking's and Heracross' megahorn wont do much since latios/latias can K.O them each with a psychic thanks to poison and fighting subtype. all thats left is measly silver wind, which surprisingly isnt bad, but doest do much anyway.

Good idea Kirbypika. Rhydon too learns Megahorn at Level 66, so there you could run into some problems. Since Rhydons are rare, I don't think there is much to worry about.

I was also surprised to learn that Latios and Latias do not learn Flamethrower & Fire Blast. Usually, Dragon - Type Pokemon are capable of learning fire attacks. I was planning on putting that in the moveset to cover Bug and Ice Pokemon which would of helped immensely.

Well, hopefully when you catch Latios, you have better luck with it's nature than I did. My Latios "Bluee" had an Adamant nature (Attack +, Special Attack -).

I would be honored if you were to make me a Team Strategist. I always love to help people. :D

and rhydon has very low sp. def, like most rock pokémon, and certainly will be Koed with a psychic or two.

Right now I'm working on an extremely long and difficult Egg Move Guide that make that a week or two to make. It tells you which Pokemon will get you the Egg Move and what level the Breeding Partner learns it on.

I don't know why I told you this. I just felt like telling someone I guess. Lol. :D

I just added a basic breeding guide to the Ruby/Sapphire section of my new website. Perhaps you'd like to donate your guide to the new website?

Sure. My guide will only involve Ruby and Sapphire Pokemon, so some egg moves will go unfilled. But I will gladly add it to your site.
