Just to tell you I did meet all of the requirments for trading from FR/LG to
R/S. But can you battle FR/LG vs. R/S? I'm just wondering.

Yes you can battle LG/FR against R/S/E... i know if you do it against R/S your LG/FR character gets a quick makeover to the R/S look, but otherwise they battle normally
