Ever since the land for the first R/B games was revealed as Kanto it was known the country Pokémon exists in is based on Japan as Kantō is also the name of a region in Japan.

i'm sure i've seen that picture before... its sort of clever what they did - but i'm also sure those are the general areas that those pokemon regions are based off in japan...
still, i guess for all those that didnt know about the relationship between the real japan and the pokemon games - this is quite the eye opener

Interestingly, the Battle Zone is located in Russia (Sakhalin) if we were talking about where the Pokemon world was based off. Would the next region include a mountain based off Mount Fuji?
