Something wrong about james and brock

Brock is for some rason sowing some brief taboos on a not so very recent episode of pokemon advance battle about alcohol and a pub with brock drinking and James is becoming to be a bit curved if u know what I mean. The first season he was kind of hot and witty and sleek and cool except when it came to battling some times but now he seems dorky and I think im the only one who noticed they changed the voice actor but the new james voice sounds cute.

They've changed the voice actors already? I thought that wasn't due to happen for a while yet

If you listen to James speak in the first season and James speak now you will see a TOTAL diffrence but yeah they will change voices

Oh, you mean between the first season. That's quite old. When did Brock drink in a pub and talk about alcohol? Were either actually mentioned or did they try to cover it up by making the drink seem like juice or something?

Also, this is bordering on Serious PokÃƒÂ©mon Discussion and it's a difficult call but right now I feel it's suited a little better to the AnimÃƒÂ© forum so I'm moving it there. However, if it begins to move more towards cultural taboos in the PokÃƒÂ©mon anime I'll move it back.

You never heard of the new voices yet. I like the way James sounds now. He seems to be a transvestive and has a flamboyant voice. Almost every show need a charater like that. So what if there is an alcohol reference. Grow up peoples.

Well thats true and yes James voice is better now then back then and Brrock did have a alcoholic taboo except instead of beer it was milk and well he mentioned something about his "LOVE" life

A taboo isn't a thing, it's something that is considered wrong in some form in society. I don't know if it's true or not, but it is entirely possible for Brock to have had an alcohol obsession in the anime and for it to be dubbed over as milk - a lot slides in Japan, even with kids.

Yeah it slided away like it was nothing.When my cousin saw the episode she immediaetely saw a bottle of wine and wanted a sip. HOWS THAT FOR U PICKACHU90000?!!!!!!!!!

You guys, please, calm down a little. Alcohol is common in animes, since the censoring system in America is a lot more strict than in other countries. For example, the infamous "lost episode" of Pokemon that features James dressed as a rather volumtuous woman in a bikini has never aired on American television, but it can air with minimal problems in other countries. Having the dubbing companies call beer "milk" is not completely unheard of, in Tenchi Muyo!, they call sake "tea," and it is obvious that they are getting trashed.

The subject of alcohol is really just a taboo topic in America, along with other topics, like homosexuality (ex: Michiru/Haruka called cousins in the dubbed Sailor Moon). It is all a matter of culture in regards to what is and is not concidered a taboo subject.

Now, please, cool off the arguing. CindyKitty22 voiced an honest concern for children, as she saw negative effects first hand. Not all kids fully understand that alcohol is for adults. Children want to be like adults, so when they see siblings and parents drinking, they want to as well, and it is the same when they see it on any TV program or commercial- Pokemon included. It is up to the parents to explain that alcohol is not for children and if they see it on TV, it does not mean they can drink, too. ^_^

Again, arguing about the subject to this degree really is not necessary.
