Anybody else playing FF13 at the moment, I am and while i'm not far into the game, i have to say its quickly becoming one of my favorite FF's. It's strange, because there's a lot of things in it that are very different from previous FF games and when you hear about them you think 'we'll that's stupid' but while playing the actual game you go 'we'll that's good' - like healing at the end of every battle, or that there's no MP bar anymore...
Anyway, if you're playing (or played) FF13, what do you think of it?

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
I'm not playing it but from what I've heard from people who are playing it there seem to be two main issues with it:
- Lightning's voice is inconsistent
- It is VERY linear compared to other Final Fantasies

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
I'm only about 8 hours into it and yeah, it's been very linear so far. The thing is that it's been drip feeding me various battle techniques and mechanics tying it into the story very well. This way has actually allowed me to get a grip on these mechanics now as apposed to 60% of the way through the game as I have done with past ff games, which means I don't really apreaciate the game early on. The way FF13 has done it has allowed me to enjoy the whole thing from the start and hopefully by the time it opens up will be the time I'm ready for it to open up.
Of course, this is personal preferace, so while I like it and it works for me, I know it won't for others. Then again there will be people out there who hate this game, simply because it's not FF7

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
Yeah there are some die hard FF fans, usually circling around either VI, VII or VIII. Personally I think VI and IX were great, but I've only played those and I and IV so I've not got much to go on.
Does XIII open up eventually then or is it linear all the way through?

Re: Final Fantasy XIII
As i understand it (obviously havent gotten there yet) the game is split into two worlds, cocoon and pulse - after you leave cocoon and get to pulse, that's where the game opens up
