Tetra is technically Princess Zelda. Right, here's the reasons, please pay attention.
As you play through the game you find out that Tetra is decended from the Royal Bloodline of Hyrule, that's why she has the triforce of Wisdom piece (as they always seem to end up with it).
While it's not confirmed, Tetra seems to be an only child, which would make her the first born daughter of the royal family... a decree by a prince many ages ago (could even be before Occarina of Time is set (assuming that is the first game in the timeline) said that the first born daughter of the royal family MUST be named Zelda. Which would mean, had the royal family been in power and not hiding as they were (to the point they didnt realise they were the royal family) Tetra would have had to have been called Zelda by Hyrulian Law. By the way, that Rule about the first born daughter being named Zelda is mentioned in Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link way back on the NES.
