Anyone here play Harvest Moon?
Just wondering if anyone played it. Or has even heard of it. I seem to be one of the only ones...

Re: Anyone here play Harvest Moon?
I used to be a huge fan of Harvest Moon. I still like it but I haven't kept up with it and I haven't played the more recent games.
I started with the original Harvest Moon on the SNES and loved it so I searched out for Harvest Moon 64 which I later found out was never released in Europe so I got Back To Nature instead. I loved that game and got Friends of Mineral Town for the GBA which I also loved.
The problem started with A Wonderful Life where they changed the system for how you got paid, how much everything was worth, how plants/trees worked, seeds, animals etc. Basically everything changed to make a more slow paced game since I never got into this seed farming thing. I'd searched high and low for the game for a long while and it was a graphically impressive game so I was disappointed that I couldn't really get into it. That really put me off and I haven't picked up the series since then as while I understand AWL is now considered experimental and somewhat of a black sheep in the series the games are all nevertheless quite a grind with no appreciable ending really. It's all very same-y and it takes a lot of time and effort to achieve much in the game which puts me off picking it up again.

I haven't played the older versions. Should I seek them out and give them a go?

Good luck finding them as they're all pretty rare these days. If you can I'd recommend Friends of Mineral Town as it's basically an upgraded version of Back To Nature. The gameplay is pretty simple but there is so much to do it will take you a VERY long time to fully complete it. I've played it on and off for years and am still nowhere close to completing it.

Re: Anyone here play Harvest Moon?
I've recently become a fan of the series, and the games I have played are:
-Animal Parade
-Grand Bazzar
and -Magical Melody
Magical Melody, I got from a friend you could only play as a boy in her version so she didn't want it, and I've made a second save on the others!
I really like the series for the concept, and addictive gameplay!

I agree for that. The new ones just feel like there is something... missing. I tried to get Harvest Moon Fomt, but I got outbid on Ebay...
DARN! I really wanted it.
