“Houndour is unable to battle."
Those words from the referee was the bad news. The good news was that this match wasn't over yet. Recalling Houndour into his Pokéball caused a sinkful of water to drop off my coat. And now the rain has stopped. Typical. It had all been going well until Marill made it rain. Apart from getting soaked to the skin, Houndour started to lose his traction as he was dodging Hydro Pump attacks, eventually he couldn't keep his footing and that's what did him in.
Oh well, best not dwell on the past. Time to focus on the future. Now how do I get rid of Marill? Grass would be good, but my only grass type was the first to fall, so that's out of the question. Electric is the next thought, but the only thing I have that comes close is... Hmm. What was it that guy said before Marill started to ruin my hair with rain? Umm, something like 'I only like the weather when it's in my favour', hmm that gives me an idea.
I grab the Pokéball from its holder than throw it onto the, still wet, arena. It sparkled and lit up as it started to open, releasing the six foot seven inch of mean looking, green rock. I'd chosen a Tyranitar, and it roared as it was finally released from its resting place. It stomped its foot on the floor before sand started to swirl around. I grab the pair of black glasses I keep in the inside pocket of my coat and place them over my eyes before the sandstorm Tyranitar was creating managed to reach me. Soon the entire arena was being battered by miniature pieces of a beach.
“I see" My opponent said in his condescending voice of his “Trying to wear down my Pokémon with that sand attack." Well the thought did cross my mind. “As I told you before, I only like the weather when it is in my favour." And I always like remembering key things my opponent said. Soon enough Marill was dancing to call the clouds back and the rain to fall.
As the rain started to bounce of my head once more, I could hear all the comments from the crowd in attendance. 'How stupid to put a rock type up against a water type.' 'Well this match is over now.' 'What a terrible strategy.' 'He should have known this was going to happen.' My lips spread wide as the smile came to my lips. As a matter of fact, I'd like to say to the crowd, I did.
“Tyranitar..." I said to gain my Pokémon's attention, “Thunder!"
