Chapter 1
Sarah was late for school as usual. Aaron had already gone to work after waking Sarah up, Aaron was Sarah’s brother, he worked at an internet company called ‘World Today’ Aaron designed the company’s website. He had just started this job last week after he had completed an application form on the Internet. Aaron was 20 years old and had just been fired from a gardening job. He didn’t really like working outside because he had hay fever and it always meant that a 5 minute job took 20 minutes instead. While working at his new job Aaron had put the company’s website right after 2 days, his manager was very surprised and impressed.
Sarah was getting ready for school, washing her face, packing her bag with her lunch and school supplies. All of a sudden there was a knock at the door, Sarah looked round at the clock on the wall.
“8 o’clock already†she sighed
So she stopped what she was doing and headed to answer the door.
“Hey†Sarah said as she opened the door and saw it was Natalie and Jordan.
“Hello†they replied both together.
“I will be ready in a minute†remarked Sarah
Sarah let Natalie and Jordan stand in the hallway while she finished packing her bag.
When she had finished packing her bag and made sure nothing was missing she headed to the front door.
Jordan asks “Are you ready now?â€
“Yes†Sarah replies.
Jordan opens the front door as Sarah puts the alarm on. She walks out of the door with Natalie and then double locks it with the key. She then puts the keys in her pocket and heads for the canal.
Meanwhile Aaron was updating the company’s website. He was just about to make some new graphics for the site when he realised that it was 9.45am, which meant time for a break. He stood up and started to walk out of his office when Simon came walking toward him.
“Hello Aaron†said Simon
“Alright?†replied Aaron
“Yeah, but your not going to be when I tell you what the boss wants you to do†Answered Simon
“Whats that then?†questioned Aaron
“Peter wants you to put a complaint page on the website, because he has just received a complaint off a really angry man, who only wanted to report a spelling mistake and he could not just contact you direct. The man had to go through the switch board and ended up talking to Peter.â€
“I’d better go and see him then, so much for my morning break†remarked Aaron.
Simon walked off to go get his morning cup of tea.
Aaron was scolding himself as he walked towards his boss’s office.
“Why didn’t I think of putting up a help or complaint page!†he asked himself over and over again.
Aaron walked past Amanda’s office and waved at he was he went. Amanda didn’t really like Aaron but her boss had treated her if she did not get along with him she would get the sack. Aaron didn’t know this YET.
When Aaron reached his boss’s office he had figured out what to say when his boss started having a go at him. He knocked on the door.
“ENTER†a voice replied
Aaron entered his boss’s office closing the door behind him. His boss pointed to the chair in front of him and Aaron sat down in it.
“I heard you wanted to see me†said Aaron
“Yes, what have you heard?†replied Peter
“Everything really about the man, who had to go through the switch board to get to you.â€
“Well, could you make a help section with a complaint page in it for the website?â€
“Sure, it will be up by the end of the day†answered Aaron
“Ok, then get off to your morning break now and start after.â€
“That’s it, you’re not going to have a go at me?†enquired Aaron.
“No†replied his boss.
Aaron sighed with relief
“Now goâ€
Aaron quickly got out of the comfy chair that he had been sitting in, walked over to the door opened it and walked out closing it behind him not giving his boss the chance to change his mind.
