Did you know that no one can ever "listen" to silence?
i thought thats pretty creepy >__>
:apparently this guy created the first sound proof room with sound absorbing discs and special headphones and all that stuff to block noise. so then they tested it but even though you hear 'nothing' you can hear your beating heart and the blood flowing through your body since its so quiet.
i find that really creepy o__o

You can sometimes hear your beating heart without the need for all that specialist equipment if it's particularly quiet and you listen hard enough (might help to speed up the heart rate a bit first too)

You can definitely hear you heart beat if your exercising very hard and it doesn't have to be quiet either.

Wow that is quite scary when you think of it like that. A long time ago there was a composer that seeked the ultimate silence, he even burried himself underground, but he could hear the insects among the things you mentioned so its actually impossible to achive total silence...unless your dead but thats going a little too far.
