I usually Nickname my Pokemon with my friends' names (i named a Swalot after my sister, lol).

heh once i got so sick of getting jumped by tentacools in pkmn yellow that i caught one and called it "tentagod". I named it that as I was fuming at the gameboy and saying "yeah you tentacool think youre such an absolute god don't you". Pretty cheesy though :-)
