Keeping members?

Hey all, I'm interested in your opinions on this matter. A lot of members sign up and then never come back. There's not much we can do about that, but also there are quite a few members that seem to sign up, post for a while and then never come back. Some continue but simply play the RPG. Others (as we can tell by the "users who have signed on in the last 24 hours" box simply fail to ever come back, which is a great shame as in order to build an active community each good poster is a valuable resource. Don't get me wrong, we have a great community building right now and I'm really glad of the active members the website has, you're all great

But as the saying goes, the more the merrier.

So I'm looking for all your suggestions/opinions/ideas/plans/offers etc on how to attract and, most importantly, keep active members in this community (by the community that would require them to take an active participation in the forum and not just play the RPG) Anyone?

maybe make some buttons that people can put on their sites and have a link to here? I would put it on my site. Maybe you could get someone to sign the site up on some topsites but that is a little risky as I have had bad experience with topsites (getting members who just sign up and never post).

I know this is out of the question but maybe you could offer people a promotional pokemon that can be gotten once a user has a certain amount of posts as to say thank you for joining and being active.

Don't know about the promotional thing as some people sign-up and don't bother to use either the forum or rpg which really is quite annoying.

The best way i think is to try get active people from TPC to put links, buttons any where they can whether it be in someone's TPPC sig or a Pokemon board based RPG. But then again that is just bringing in mebers some may be active but others may not

I was thinking of the topsites thing but as you said it's sort of random as to whether you get a decent user or not out of it. The best way to secure decent members is by word-of-mouth advertising. stevie_2's idea about sgnatures was a very good one, so I encourage all users interested in helping The Pika Club out to post a link to it in their signatures etc on other websites/forums and, if possible whilst making sure that the rules of other websites/forums are not borken, maybe even advertise it a little and encourage others to join

I already put a link to TPC in a siggy in some other forums. I already got Magi of All to join this site. He/She was from Kanto RPG. Anyways, I think that you should give a prize for signing up. Or make a contest that refers people to join TPC.

Why? If people want to experience the best possible stay here at The Pika Club then thy should do this withpout any rewards or anything! How about giving something back to The Pika Club, i'm sure everyone owe's it that!
