Nintendo cracking down on importers - losing popularity?

Post by Pikachu3828 »

NOA (Nintendo of America) have recently been stamping down on many shops, offering import games. In fact, in Europe (I don't know about anywhere else) Nintendo is making shops sign documents stating that they will not sell import games, or they will not be supplied any more official merchandise. This move, in my opinion, and many others, has just made Nintendo even more unpopular, and they were not too great to begin with.

Marco Hein, Nintendo's European product manager has admitted,
Marco Hein wrote:The bad news for us is that Sony is very strong. Its the current market leader, thats obvious. Did we make a mistake? Yes, I think we did. We didn't have the right games at the right time, especially for the European market
Why then, if Nintendo admit they do not get enough good games to Europe quick enough, do they then stop people importing the games?

You sure that isn't Nintendo of Europe enforcing that law? I mean, why would NOA interfere with U.K. stuff?

Because Nintendo has no decent HQ in Europe and the imports come from America and Japan.

It may save them on money but it costs them on fans. The customer is always right, thats the suppliers motto.
