Wanted: New Weekly Feature for TPC

So currently at TPC we have a PokÃ©mon of the week and a TCG Card of the week. ok, so they dont quite run weekly here on TPC, but we do have them

But we've been thinking, maybe its time to add another weekly feature to the site. So much so that we really want to make one.

The problem is, we can't think of what to do. That's where you come in.

We need some ideas for a new weekly feature for the site, and the best one will actually start getting made each week. When suggesting an idea, give us a title and breif description of the feature. for example:

PokÃ©mon of the week
Each week, you give an indepth look into one pokemon, giving stats, capture locations, evolution paths and recommended move sets.

the only rules is that the feature has to be related to PokÃ©mon and should be able to be changed each week with a new article. And just to note, we're not looking for a person to do a weekly feature, just the actual idea of the feature itself

Berry of the week
Each week, you randomly select a berry and display what "Type" it is (sour, sweet etc.) and what colour Poffin can be made using it, and what effect(s) it can have on PokÃ©mon in battle, if any.

At the start of the week a pokemon is randomly selected then throughout the week people could enter their drawing (1 each maybe) and the best drawing gets a prize and/or their picture put somewhere for everyone to see

"Proffesor Pikachu"

I know we already have this little feature, but it hasn't been used in a while and I think it will be a good idea to bring it back. We can improve it by making it something like "Mrs. Nancy". Now if no one has ever heard of Mrs. Nancy or Mrs whatever in there school, you should know that Mrs. Nancy is an advice collumist that helps people with there problems. Proffesor Pikachu is like that, but it only goes an gives the person advice in private.

My idea is that you should make Proffesor Pikachu a whole forum thing. Every week Proffesor Pikachu will post 3 problems that people have on the forums and under there problems will be the advice that Proffesor Pikachu has given.

If you don't want to show your username in the problem that you are having, then thats ok. You can come up with. Like for example "Battle Brainiac". The person has a name like that in there problem, then the problem will be most likely to be picked to put on the forums so advice could be given so no flame wars can be started.

Since theres alot of people that has alot of posts and want to beome Proffesor Pikachu and if they get selected people will already know who is in one week because Proffesor pikachu has to post problems on the forums. So my idea for that is that the person that gets selected to be proffesor pikachu could make another account on TPC and only act like Proffesor Pikachu on that account, so only the mods and admins will know who it is.

I think I've given every good detail I could possibly give for this idea, so what do you guys think?

I was thinking "Contest Moveset of the week."

Every week, there is a recomended moveset for contests of a certain type (Like, Cool, Tough, Smart, ect.)

I actually like this one. It's one of those thing I always wished Serebii had, because, honestly, I'm terrible at contests. I've never beaten the Master Rank for any of them. Tips and guides like that would be very helpful.

"No Name So Far"

Every week, a pokemon (Excluding event pokes) is selected randomly through some random generator, and it will be announced on that Sunday. The First person to actually have that pokemon in-game, and trade it to the admin, will win .... say... 25-50 Pika Points. Hopefully the pokemon will be returned to their original owners.

I feel few people seem to be getting the wrong end of the stick so I would like to post this to try to set the record straight. We are looking for a feature, not a competition. There will be no prizes involved.

Another idea suggested was an agony aunt. This isn't PokÃ©mon related, a requirement and is very similar to Prof Pika, an old feature on TPC (which isn't cancelled yet and may come back in the future). In the mean time if you're having problems with PokÃ©mon, find one of the PokÃ©mon forums that best suits your problem and ask, somebody is bound to know the answer.

The other suggestions are more along the lines of what we are looking for, however, the berry one is a little limited in terms of both depth and scope, there is limited information that can be provided on berries and even more limited original content that could be created from that, plus there are only enough berries to last for one year at a rate of one a week. The Contest Moveset idea is very good but unfortunately out of my area of expertise.

Since I'll be the one running/writing the feature each week, I need something that is that is relatively quick and easy to write with potential for many weeks of original, interesting content to be had. Due to my other commitments on TPC, I would prefer each article take no more than around 30 minutes to produce, to give you an idea of the scope we're looking for in the feature.

So, to recap.

I'll Be writing this feature each week.
It is not a competiton.
It needs to be something that wont take too much of my time to write, letting me work on other things in TPC.

Have a "Pokemon Breeder's Corner"

Each week, feature a new pokemon
that you can get by breeding.
Tell them all the egg moves,
which father Pokemon can get them,
and which ones you recommend the most!

how about having a "featured episode"? you name its title, what season it's from, give a quick summary about it, add a screenshot or two. maybe even put extra notes/interesting facts about the episode and why it was chosen. (there shouldn't be a problem with running out of episodes since a new one comes out every week)

this is mostly just for enjoyment, but could also provide some good info. of course, this will require some research, but there's always google or wikipedia or other pokemon fan sites, right?
