You're not really helping the cause by overusing smilies yourself...

Anyways, I believe people who do use excessive smilies should receive a warning, I mean, how annoying is it stare at these thing?

if its not written in the rules (which I believe it is) - us Admins definatly consider it against the rules... sometimes we will edit posts to remove excessive smilies, sometimes we dont. Either way - users receive a warning about it.

it was left off this one as despite being backseat moderating (something again against the rules) it did illustrate a point. however, if the rest of the staff feels different, that desicion can be overturned

I choose not to use smilies at all. They just seem to imply more than I'd like them to. So no threat of me ever overusing smilies. They are annoying when over used though.
