how do you get money?

There are different ways to earn money. The easiest is by clicking other people's pokemon. Each click gets you 5 poke. When you level up a pokemon you get a 100 poke bonus. You can also earn money but selling items and pokemon in your personal shop, if you have one, from other players buying the items and pokemon from you. Also if you mine up curtain items, you can sell those to a certain shop called Stones R Us to get money from there. There's also the lottery, but if you don't have much money to spare I wouldn't go working with that. Also you can complete quests and jobs people give you to earn money. There's a lot of ways, but the best way to start out is by clicking as many people as you can everyday.

NOTE: If you click the daily Golden User pokemon you will get 50 poke instead of the normal 5 poke per click/pokemon. But first you have to find them. Though normally someone finds the golden user and posts it in the Golden User topic. Also you do NOT get money from clicking your OWN pokemon.
