Shiny pokemon are a bit difficult. You either can get them by breeding a bunch of pokemon and hoping for the best, or there are things call Star Man that will make you pokemon shiny instantly. Those are hard to come by though...you can get one from an achievement, but it's better to use that on a Loppunny because then you'll unlock another achievement...the other way to find a Star Man is sometimes it'll be given away as an hourly gift, but the hourly gift is random

You get fossil pokemon by minning. You mine by going to an island and getting your first kit, though first you need a ticket to go on the boat at all. At first you'll only be able to mine a few stones, though eventually if you work at it and do what is required to upgrade, you'll be able to mine all the stones, including fossils. You revive fossils by going to a special scientist that revives fossils. It'll take some time, but eventually you'll get there.

You can also boost your chances of breeding a shiny Pokemon if the mother is holding a Starf berry. If you're lucky enough to get an Enigma berry and you have a Pokemon hold it there is a random chance of it turning shiny when clicked.

In addition to the methods listed above, any activity that has a chance of turning a Pokémon shiny has the chances doubled if Cynthia is at the Train Station that day.
