Well, I don't consider them legendary for the fact they look too alike to each other. That, and their battle skills aren't all that great compaired to the legendaries that meet all three of my conditions.
To be legendary, its battling skills have to be too.

It's not sensoring - its using a symbol to represent either an 'A' or an 'O' so that you only have to type the word once, but you are talking about both birds. Some people use @ and others use *
So if you see 'Lati*s can be caught in ruby/saphire' - it means 'Latios and Latias can be caught in ruby/saphire'
its just one of those quicker to type time saving things

Well, the legendaries, for me are:
1. Strong
2. Have good battle strategy.
3. Normally Psychic but still, there's some other types.
Legends for me are:
3 Kanto legendary birds: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
Mew and Mewtwo
Ho-oh and Lugia
the 3 Johto legendary dogs.
Celebi
Groudon, Kyogre, and Raquaza
Latios and Latias (Please take note of that)
the 3 Regis
Jirachi
Deoxys
Dialga and Palkia
Manaphy (Yes you can breed a Manaphy and a Ditto/other Pokemon for a Phione but doesn't mean that Phione evolves into Manaphy.)
Azelf, Mespirit, and Uxie
Phione
Cresseria
Shaymin
Darkai
Arceus
Giratina
Regigigas
Semi-legendaries:
Lucario
Heatran and Rhyperior
Tyranitar

But it doesn't breed a Manaphy, it breeds a Phione. Phione cannot breed and neither can it ever evolve into a Manaphy. It's an isolated case, however.mewtwo1997 wrote:only manaphy can breed and that makes the egg a phione.
I believe the best measurement of defining a legendary Pokémon is there only being one of its kind in the game (or not, like event obtainable ones) and never evolving. By one of a kind, I mean another cannot be obtained through breeding or other such methods.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. To be honest, I don't really have a Manaphy or Phione, I was just going by the past rules of legendary Pokémon.WhoKnows_WhoCares wrote:actually phione's CAN breed, but they only produce another phione
I guess if that is the case then it's really becoming harder and harder to define a legendary Pokémon. I think people should stop looking for a universal rule to use to define legendary Pokémon and instead base them on their demand and thus relative worth.

that would make munchlax and hippopotas legendary - cause you can get any pokemon on the GTS with one of those two.
I agree with what your saying about it's getting harder to define a legendary, but then its not a term that Gamefreak came up with, its something the fan community did.
I think with the exception of Manaphy breeding (which is actually more of a way to get a different pokemon than actually breeding a Manaphy), the general rules we've come up with here apply, and you can get a list of pokemon to fit it that would cover all the legendaries. Phione wouldnt be classed as legendary - just needing one before you could obtain it.
or that's my opinion anyway

Munchlax and Hippopotas have a very high worth, yes, but I still believe traditional legendaries like Dialga, Mew etc have a higher worth. Put those on the GTS and I bet you could get any Pokémon for them too, but people don't as often because they've very hard to obtain and thus worth more.WhoKnows_WhoCares wrote:that would make munchlax and hippopotas legendary - cause you can get any pokemon on the GTS with one of those two.

True, in my experiences I have offered a true "one-of-a-kind" legendary such as Palkia or Jirachi on the GTS, and the trade went through in minutes, while when I offer a Hippopotas it takes hours to days. The TCG Man wrote:Munchlax and Hippopotas have a very high worth, yes, but I still believe traditional legendaries like Dialga, Mew etc have a higher worth. Re: Defining a legendary Pokémon
What defines a Pokémon as legendary to me, is if they've done something legendary in the annals of time in the Pokémon world. All the apparent "legendaries" have stories about them in game. So that's clear cut for me, as then i don't have to work out whose legendary, the game tells me...usually along the storyline of the games. After all they are RPG's right?
