I've been browsing around these forums lately and I've noticed a few things. You have a small core of well-spoken members who, judging by post count have been here a while, that seem to be claiming there is a lot of spam on The Pika Club and complaining about the quality of posts.
I've noticed this, too. It seems a lot of posts made by people outside of this small core group are grammatically lacking and have very tenuous links to either the topic at hand or recent replies. Where is moderator intervention in these cases? I don't mean to stir things up but I feel a tighter grip on the quality of posts would mean less of them but a greater quality in the ones that are posted. Does anyone agree? I'm willing to sacrifice having less to talk about if it means what there is to talk about is much more interesting and well written.

I personally think that you can't force a person to use good grammar. If a person chooses to type in SMS speak, I see no reason why the person can't. Yes I do think that demanding a higher quality posts would result in lesser messages. I do realize that this is no way is a forum intended for adults and younger people choose to save time by abbreviating words that some people including myself find hard to read.

True, although even children have no need to talk with "words" like "u" and "y", basically letters instead of words. Surely anyone can type properly, even children, instead of using constant lettering that some people find annoying and hard to understand.Pikachu90000 wrote:I personally think that you can't force a person to use good grammar. I agree, why can't children or teens type a sentence that is void of hard to read abbreviations on electronic media? I don't see why anyone would save any time by not typing out "you" and instead removing 2 letters and making you seem really stupid and "saving time" by typing out "u". When I joined about 5 years ago, although my grammar wasn't perfect, I never abbreviated simple words like you and are. I also don't get why anyone would repeat the last letter in a word twice. Why? I fail to see why having good spelling and grammar is so hard.Ryan659 wrote:True, although even children have no need to talk with "words" like "u" and "y", basically letters instead of words.
