Personally I've always hated Nicknames, too many bad memories caused by the ones people gave me. Especially the ones given to me by my "friends".

Felicia is my name but you call me Licia or Turtle. Kame means turtle in Japanese.

Whenever someone thought up a Nickname for me it was always meant more as an insult. One Nickname I got was BO...^^; I mean harsh or what.

So why is it that people insist upon giving us Nicknames even when the Nickname in particular is longer than your actual name?
