Level 40 Loudred
According to bulbapedia loudred is supposed to evolve into exploud at level 40. At level 39 I fed the loudred a rare candy but instead of evolving, it's still a loudred. I kept the loudred to the ranch for the rest of its 39 level gain. Anyway to have it evolve and get the achievement without having to raise it another level and waste the money I used on a rare candy and the time I thought I was saving?

Re: Level 40 Loudred
I've mentioned it before but I realise it is not documented within the AA itself so I have updated the Rare Candy's description to say that Rare Candies cannot be used to evolve Pokémon. Since I feel it's unfair that you should by your own words waste your Rare Candy under false pretences, I have reimbursed your Rare Candy.
The way Rare Candy works is intentionally done to somewhat mitigate Rare Candy abuse as it is very hard to know how common something will become when it is newly introduced. If they became commonplace, people could fill out their Pokédexs very quickly and be left with little else to do. When developing for the web you always have to keep in mind exploits like these that may ruin the balance of the game.
Rare Candies seem to have remained somewhat rare however so I may consider removing this limitation over Christmas. Although this is not a bug, I will leave this topic open to whoever reads this for some discussion on whether prohibiting evolution with a Rare Candy should be kept or dropped.

Thank you very much for the quick reply, the clarification and for replacing the rare candy. It's very much appreciated.

Re: Level 40 Loudred
Nobody seems to have an opinion on this, so I'll keep it the way it is and lock this topic.
