You're a little confused - Ash's original voice actor is still alive, its Meowth's voice actor who unfortunatly passed away a couple of years back

Oh sorry...I was just so heartbroken when I found out. It really chokes me up...thankfully the new Voice Actor for Meowth isn't too far off from her. I'm sure she'd be glad about that at the very least.

I've never cried so much in my life though. I hope she up there catching them all.
