I kind of find secret bases useless, you can only get some items form non speical events(shops)

They have a deeper hidden meaning, I cover this in the R/S section on the new website. The Secret Bases now act like the new Trainer House, except you can have as many Secret Bases as you like. Instead of being stuck with one friend in the Trainer House, providing your friend has a Secret Base and they're beat the Elite Four, when you mix records you'll notice a hole where their secret base is in their game. Go inside and fight the trainer inside which will consist of your friends PokÃƒÂ©mon. You can do this with as many friends as possible.

No it isn't for the RPG. He was talking about the game and that it's possible to have a Secret Base on this website's RPG.
