New Nintendo Revolution controller

Post by Pikachu3828 »

Hi, has anyone seen the new Nintendo Revolution controllers?
ImageWhen I first saw this I wanted to dislike it and I did...it just looks so weird and is not something I (or most people) are used to when we think of games controllers. However, after watching a video of it in action it has certainly started to appeal to me. There is also an interesting article that gives some food for thought: http://lostgarden.com/2005/09/nintendos ... ategy.html

At first thew new controller seems to have thrown a lot of people off, but not I actually look into it the new controller is really starting to interest me. The many uses the video presented it with certainly intruige me, and it looks like a lot more fun to use over a conventional controller. However, I can see a number of problems with it.

Firstly, you look stupid swinging it about everywhere. Not that that's entirely bad in itself but you may end up hitting someone or knocking something over by mistake. Secondly it just does not seem like it will work for some games, like fighting games for example. Thirdly it's increasingly apparent that it has a tilt feature in it which, while is very cool, could also become a pain because TV controllers are not the most comfortable things to hold and you may find yourself wanting to hold it at a more comfortable angle or swapping it around for a bit which, of course, with tilt games would prove a problem.

Anyway, what does everyone think of the new Nintendo Revolution controllers?

At first I thought, *! A remote controller? You could use it like a NES controller. You could still stick with the old GameCube controllers. They are compatible with Rev.

Really? Wow, I didn't know that. But if that's true and it's going to be backwards compatible how will they compensate for the new buttons? The video shows two Z buttons, Z1 and Z2, and I didn't know the Gamecube controller had a built in tilt feature

Well the GameCube controller is probaly only for NGC games or games that need more buttons. There are 4 ports on the top of the Rev. Also 2 slots for NGC Memory cards

Oh right, so it's Gamecube support but there's no actual integration between the two. It's just basically building in a Gamecube into the Revolution which is....pointless, really. Most people who will buy the Revolution will have a Gmaecube already.

The new controller look like that because, well I don't know about you but something went I play a game I think by move the controller it give me more power.

I'm not the only one in that world that does it and because of this that why the new controller look like it does so the player can move around more.
