No, I haven't. I've only ever watched it. I'm curious, are the fencing swords used sharp? I know you wear a lot of protective gear. Also because if they aren't sharp how do you know when someone has won?

Fencing is swordfighting. Generally when you see it in movies, they are fighting in white suits with funny cagelike masks on. The training foils sometimes has a ball at the end. It is really graceful and teaches agility.

I want to try Kendo, which is sort of the Oriental equivalent of Fencing. You both wear armour and attempt to score points by hitting each other, but it works slightly different. Instead of fencing swords they use katanas (nowadays bamboo sticks) There are two types of attacks, strikes and thrusts and only three areas you are allowed to hit to score points; the top of the head, side of the head and wrist.

i have tried fencing before and suprisingly (this IS true) my dog does fencing too. she takes a rubber bone, she jumps up, and when she falls she hits people. its outrageus! and it can hurt because she did it with a hard bone before and because it wouldnt bend she kept hitting me. :-?
