Nintendogs

Post by Pikachu3828 »

I recently got this game for the DS and I must say it's very good, virtually everyone I know with a DS has got it so I thought to get it myself :mrgreen: I can see why people like it now, it's amazing, every person I have shown it to so far has been amazed at it, it's actually inspired 2 people to get a DS! Being a lifelong dog owner I can say it is fairly realistic also, the animations are generally what you'd expect from a dog as are the sounds etc. I'm going to stop this now before I turn it into something more of a review :-P

Anyone else here have Nintendogs? Which version do you have (not that it makes much difference)? I have Chihuahua & Friends, though not out of choice. So far I only have one puppy, a German Shepherd called Bones. He knows how to sit down, lay down, play dead, shake and pounce. He also came first in the Expert Class disc championship.

I have nintendogs to, I have chihuahua and friends. I got some cool cheats for the game to, I got em at www.gamewinners.com, If you go there, go to the left and it will have all the gamestations, click on DS and a long box with letters will apear, click on the letter that the game starts with and a list of games will appear, then click on the name of the game an a lst of cheat codes will appear, If you want you can print them, they have codes like making your dog do a back flip, front flip,etc

(sorry If that was too long, I got carried away!) :oops:

I have held off on Obedience, too. I am so busy with classes that I can't train them well enough. Although it is fun to teach them tricks, I do not think they can hold the tricks long enough.

I'm at third ranking in the obedience trials at the moment, my dog Bones has never had an issue with holding a trick :-| The only problem with the obedience trials is I almost certainly fail each new class first time round as I don't know what tricks they expect of Bones to perform.

I'm currently in the class below Championship in the flying disc competition. I've tried numerous times to enter the championship but I can never obtain the score they want, I always end up getting mid to low 30s and they want 40s. It's mostly an issue with running out of time, though it's annoying that my dog seems to have a habit of either grabbing the disc and running off with it or running towards me and at the last second stopping and either shaking the disc in his mouth or to lay down and do the above, making me waste valuable time as I have to double tap the screen and let him respond and come to me :-|

As for the agility trials, I haven't even tried them. What are they like? I've took my dog to the course on walks before but I'm still trying to get the hang of it. From what I've worked out you guide your dog through the tunnels with the stylus, but what about outside the tunnels? From my own observations you just tap the screen to get your dog to run in that direction? And to jump over a pole you constantly tap it? Any help would be appreciated :)

I believe in your Care menu, there is a book with Agility Trials Tutorials. ^__^

To do jumps, you can guide your dogs over it. Tap the hurdle, then drag the stylus over it, and the dog will eventually get the hang of it.

Yeah, look at the training guides you get under care supplies. There's also a book that I think will tell you what to expect from each obedience class. ^^

My dachshund is good in agility and can go over the obsticles easily, so in the contests, it boils down to me not accidently leading her astray with my stylus on accident, which I tend to do... ^^;

In disc, my main problem is that I don't throw the disc far enough all the time... Sometimes, I throw the disc so it's not even worth one point for the catch, and after doing that two times in a row, I pretty killed my chances at winning the master or anything above it class... v.v;

Try throwing the disc in a more verticly curved path. Also, different discs fly differently.

Also, practice in the park (preferably in the one without other dogs to raise your dog's skills in catching, since in- air catches earn more points). This way, you have more space than your house and you can master just the right way to get the long throws!

Good luck and tell us when you win!!
