What're you currently reading?
I thought this topic would be a good idea as it will allow for the sharing of good reading material and discussion on books, so please post here what book you're currently reading and a little information about it I may even go out and buy a book if I like the sound of it
I am currently reading Life, The Universe, And Everything by Douglas Adams. It's part of a trilogy of 5 called The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. It was written in 1979 originally as a radio programme, and has been transformed into a book, a TV show and soon to be a movie (April 29th - Click here for the official site - contains a trailer)
It's basic story is about a character called Arthur Dent, who is your average Englishman who is about to have his house demolished one Thursday afternoon. However, there are much bigger problems afoot as the Earth is about to be demolished to make way for a new hyperspace bypass. Arthur discovers his friend, Fored Prefect, is an alien from Betelguese and he manages to escape with Arthur from Earth seconds before it's destroyed. From here they travel the galaxy and get into all sorts of adventures. It's a science-fiction book with humour. I would reccomend it

I'm reading 'The Da Vinci Code'. It's about a very important person in an art muesem thing (sorry, forgot what they guys name was) and he got killed, and he left clues to figure out who killed him. It's been a veery controversal subject and people on the news here in MI have been doing these things since the past EVER now to 'crack the code' because people think it's true.
Oh. a detail I forgot up there is that there is a guy that was suspossed to meet with the important guy, and now the government thinks the person suspossed to meet the guy killed him. sorry about the little detail...

A relatively old topic but I'm reviving it as I've a relevant post and this topic can lead to some interesting discussion.
I've just finished So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, the fourth book in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I just need the fifth one now, Mostly Harmless to end the triology of five officially, though I'm also interested in looking for A Salmon of Doubt, as this is purportedly a book that Douglas Adams (author) wrote as a book for another story of his but started turning it into a Hitchhiker's Guide book.
I'm also interested in reading The Oddysey once I've finished the Hitchhiker's series; it's apparently one of, if not the first books ever written and published.
As for school books, I have to read and study Cold Mountain and King Lear.

I just finished reading 'The Regulators' by Richard Bachman. It's a really good book, but I don't recommend it to kids because it swears a LOT and is somewhat scary. If anyone reads it, I'd advise to read it VERY carefully because if you skip something or read it wrong you will get VERY confused. That happened to me about four times.

I read and finished Mostly Harmless not so long ago, completing the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy of five (yes, you read that right). In my honest opinion it was a great series and well worth reading. It was humorous, imaginative and highly enjoyable. I particuarly loved the author's writing style, even if the series does end on a bit of a sad note.
Now I am currently reading The Odyssey. I have a prose version of it as I hate poetry, and I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying it even though I am only on the fourth chapter (or "book" as it refers to them as)
