I know. It SUCK (the voices, of course) Ash sounded like a doofus, Brock was an adult, Misty sounded plain old, Max was a bit dumb, and May... ...lets not go there.

It was just like a fanfic, they didn't have full understanding of the charicters, made no sence. here's what I wrote on DA;

Mood: Wanting to kill May more than ever.
Locaton: Earth

In the new speacail, which was a test;
Ash: Sounds like Butch
Misty: not that bad
Brock: Same as misty
May: uuuh... how old is she again? she kinda sounds like Jesse
Jesse: Sound like the original voise
James: same as ^
Oak: dosen't sound like Oak

This specail was like a fanfic, where the writers don't know the charicters' personailty. If Gary were in it he'd popably be evil like in most fanfics.

that's exsactly what I think.

I think she didn't count Meowth as it was a Pokemon.

I watched this special through the magic of the internet. I agree they didn't do so well with the first set of voices but they re-did it later on with some odd change in who was running the anime, and the voices were improved...not to the old ones because too many of the target audience had already gotten used to some of the new voices (also because one of the originals had passed on T-T).

It was a good idea that they got carried away with if you ask me. They actually did rather well but then certain parts messed up...partially because we had to see the Dubbed version...and we have very different standards to the Japanese when it comes to what's appropriate in our animated pieces.
