New Super Mario Brothers

Post by Powerchu »

Has anyone gotten the chance to play it yet? I got it yesterday and I have to say I love it. It was definitely worth the 1.5+ year wait and $35. I am currently at World 6 on it. My favorite power ups are the Star and Blue Shell.

I am hoping to get this soon. Considering there is no regional lockout on DS games, I can't be bothered to wait till June 30th for it when I can get it now. I don't see why there is such a large gap anyway, I can't imagine NSMB having that much text to translate :?

It is worth the money. I don't regret buying it. I have seen some reviews that gave it low ratings. lol

Some levels have Alternate Exits which can only be accessed either by the Blue Shell's abilities or the Mini Mushroom's abilities. Worlds 4 and 7 can only be unlocked by beating the World 2 and 5 Castle Bosses with Mini Mario or finding the Warp Cannons that take you to worlds 4 and 7 (located in worlds 1 and 4)

(my B-day is on Friday, June, 16 just so nobody asks when my b-day is)

I just got this game in the post today and it's awesome  It's a great mix of old school 2D Mario gaming with 3D graphics. It also has some cool little quirks, such as the enemies dancing in time to the music

My brother has it, it's pretty fun. I like the power-ups there.

Yeah it's hard. I hate that if it's game over you have to beggin the levels of the world you lost in over again.

I haven't seen the Game Over screen yet, I've managed to stay at just over 5 lives however I feel they could have implmented a better save feature so you could save whenever; as a handheld game you need that kind of flexibility.

you can get a 'save whenever you want (as long as your on the map screen) - after you've beaten the final castle in world 8.

it's interesting how this game has mixed ideas from way back in the original super mario bros, with ideas from all the other games and a couple of new ones throw in. Plus playing with Luigi is no different in style that playing with Mario (which always annoyed me about the Mario World remake on GBA)

Personally I liked the character variety, though I feel Princess Peach's ability to hover was kind of overpowered as it made the levels so simple to just glide across, particuarly in the ice levels which were hard on foot.

your thinking of the wrong re-make. The super mario bros 2 remake i was fine with the viraity as that's what the characters were like in the original on the nes. But in Super Mario World on the SNES both Mario and Luigi played identical, so when the re-make on the GBA had Luigi with his SMB2 Jumping style, it kind of wrecked the timings of jumps and, for me at least, the game itself.

Ooh ha ha sorry, I like Mario but I've never been very good with the chronology of the games since I got my first Nintendo console (Gameboy Color) a few months before Pokémon Gold/Silver came out, meaning I missed out on a lot of Mario games. As a kid I had a PC to play games on so I used to play Sonic games instead.

The problem is that I hadn't yet. I am not that good at it.
