Fire Emblem
I recently started playing Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones on GBA as I'm somewhat fond of both RPGs and RTSs so FA was too good an opportunity to miss up. I'm on chapter 9 now and am having a blast, the strategy aspect of it is great and the RPG aspect that allows your units to level up, grow and change classes really adds another layer to the gameplay.
Apparently Sacred Stones is the easiest of the FA series and I can perhaps see that, Seth particuarly seems overpowered and I've only lost 2 units so far (this is my first time ever playing a FA game and next time I play round to choose Ephraim's story I know what not to do)
If I had one complaint about SS so far it would be the story - it's pretty generic and hasn't really pulled me in. Maybe it gets better as I dive further in.
Has anyone else ever played a Fire Emblem game?

I played Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones also, and it is really good. I'm on chapter 21 I believe. I think it gets more engaging later on when you get more powerful units like Myrrh, who is a really good character and gains like three or four levels everytime you beat someone, but sadly her Dragonstone runs out quickly...The game also gets more difficult later on when you have to fight harder bosses, I had to start each chapter at least 4 times to beat the bosses. Overall I think this is a really good game.

Well.. I'm a fire emblem freak! I've played and finished the 2 GBA games and path of radiance for the gamecube(just finished it recently ^_~). I'm not sure which i like better, they're all fun. But the first i've finished 3 or 4 times, sacred stones i've finished twice(girl mode) and the path of radiance once... Anyways... I enjoyed them all VERY much ^_^

I've only played Sacred Stones and Path of Radiance, but out of the two, I liked FE:SS more for its story (I haven't beaten the final boss *yet* but I have a lot less questions than when I reached the end of FE: PoR...) and how you could choose to go with either one of the siblings for a few chapters. I liked Ephraim's story more, although I did both so I could hear the complete story. n_n
I know someone who's a bit of a... ... Crazy statistic-spitting Fire Emblem person... It's... Kinda scary... O_o;
... Anyways... The next Fire Emblem game seems to be for the Nintendo Wii, and branches off of Path of Radiance, so maybe eventually the questons I have from PoR will be answered, or maybe not... All I know is that I'll have to wait quite a while to find out (because I'll get a Wii at the first price drop, I hope).
... and one more thing for this post. I also want FE7 (the first Fire Emblem game released outside of Japan, known here as just plain "Fire Emblem") because... I played the beginning of a friend's, but she doesn't have it anymore... Why me...? Now I have to go buy it somewhere... =.<;

You mean those characters' stats are modified in the western release, and that they're less powerful in the Japanese version?

In FE7, how does the class changing system work? I'm asking because in FESS, there was the whole deal with finding a class-changing item to use to pick one of two classes, and in PoR, you hit level 20, and automatic class change... Or something.. (I haven't played PoR in a while...) @_@;

FE7? If that's Sacred Stones so far I've been able to change the class of my characters by finding and using specific items.

Yeah...In Fe7 and FeSS you use specific items on characters between lv. 10 and 20. In FePoR you upgrade when you grow a level at lv 20 or prematurely with a master seal at lv 10+.
As for the story, I enjoyed PoR's story the most. It is by far the best and is very compelling near the end of the game.

I call FE7 FE7 because... It has no subtitle next to its name. (FESS is the 8th Fire Emblem game, by the way...)
For the story, I liked Sacred Stones more than PoR's story.... (I haven't played more than chapter one of FE7 to be able to say anything...) PoR has so many unanswered questions that gets on my nerves... And it's so much harder to get supports (and you can't ever review them...) so I haven't bothered trying to get any new info out of supports... ... But I ramble... @_<;

You guys have to see this:

It's so fascinating...
Whoever figured it out was pretty smart.

Aha thank you, that helped a lot. many times a battle has killed an important unit of mine so I have switched my Gameboy off and on to try to get the enemy to miss and save my unit. Now I can see my attempts are futile. Thanks, that has saved me a lot more time I would have spent otherwise attempting futilely to save my units.
