The Legend of Zelda series

Post by Pikachu3828 »

Being one of Nintendo's main franchises and an extremely popular game I'm sure many people here will have played or seen at least one of the games in this series. I own Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and The Minish Cap and have completed Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker. While I am not the biggest Zelda fan around I do enjoy the games and wish to settle down one day and play Ocarina of Time (I had already started a save on it and got up to the fish's mouth but then I'd got a new game and needed some extra storage space on my memory card so I had to delete the save) and I've nearly completed The Minish Cap.

Odd that while Nintendo is (was) a kid's company that Zelda is a comparatively darker games series than most other Nintendo games (with possible exception to The Wind Waker that seemed to go backwards in terms of art style to brightly coloured and childish) and the new Zelda seems to go even darker still, though a game for all ages it seems to be aimed more at the older gaming market.

Who here has/does play Zelda, which games have you played, what do you think of it etc?

Agreed.

OoT is... a masterpiece. Nothing less. Every single part of the environment and the gameplay comes together seamlessly. It reinvented 3D gaming and generated it's own community. Hundreds...no, thousands of people chased rumor after rumor about obtaining the triforce, etc.

BTW...check out this site: internal.tbi.net/~max/zelda64

Yeah...but the console games are usually better and far more challenging. Has anyone played Oracle of S/A?

I love the Legend of Zelda games, I have all except Orcale of Ages and the SNES version of Link to the Past (have the GBA remake though), oh and the cdi games but those dont count. The only ones I havent completed are the 2 NES games the original Legend of Zelda and Adventures of Link, those were hard. I respect anybody who has completed these games.

I've also played the Demo of the new Twilight Princess game... that one is going to be real good.

http://gonintendo.com/?p=4782 wrote:In Miyamoto’s recent interview in Nintendo Dream he also discussed some changes made to Twilight Princess. The biggest change to the controls is that now you will be swinging your Wiimote as if it were Link’s sword. I personally am VERY excited with this new change, it is exactly how I envisioned the Wii version from the start. Nintendo had said in the past that they were worried gamers would get too tired playing a Zelda title like this, but it appears they have had a change of heart. Miyamoto himself is all for the new idea stating, “Upon actually playing it, it’s more interesting this way.”

Yeah...

I'm glad that the development of TP was extended a year. If you look carefully in OoT, there are so many seemingly pointless things in the game that obviously betray things they were too rushed to finish. The Triforce in the quest status screen. THe gossip stones right beside the Temple of Time. Mysterious polygon warping in semingly ordinary locations. True, all of the Triforce rumors were just hoaxes, but they revealed interesting facets of the game... we never would have noticed. Therefore, it stands to reason TP will be even better that OoT.

dont forget the possible dungeon taken out of oot... you're given the first of the sages medalians without having to rescue him which many people claim was because that dungeon was removed (either for time, or space constraints)

Yeah...

That always seemed a bit strange. I think TP will feel more...complete.
