Super Smash Brothers Brawl
For those of you who dont know, the Smash Bros. Dojo has been completly updated for the upcoming Super Smash Bros Brawl game coming to the Nintendo Wii. Its updating every weekday with something new on the site, and I'll try to post some of the cooler things in here.
So far on the site we've got 2 Stages, Three Items, 5 Characters, and 2 pieces of music, along with a few other things
Character Bios on the site so far: Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu and Pit (from Kid Icuras) - Pit also has a few of his special moves explained, so expect other charecters (mainly the new ones) to have this kind of update at some point too. Character Bios not put up yet, but we know about, Fox, Wario, Zero Suit Samus, Solid Snake, Meta Knight. While Normal Samus hasnt been 100% confirmed, she's been hinted at being in the game by saying Zero Suit Samus actually changes from normal Suit. Yoshi has also been mentioned in the music section. While other characters like Ness, DK and other classics from the previous 2 games have not been announced, expect a few of them to show up, especially if they've appered in the first 2 games
The 2 Stages on the site so far are the Battlefield (the classic open stage with 3 small platforms on it) and Delfino Plazza. The battlefield's background now cycles between day and night, while the platform in Delfino Plazza flys around the main town from Super Mario Sunshine, landing in several places (possibly adding more platforms/hazzards depending where it lands)
The 2 Pieces of Music on the site for you to listen too come from the Battlefield stage and a remix of Yoshi's Story Ending. There's also a list of Musicians who've worked on the music in the game, which reads like a Who's Who of Japanese Video Game Musicians. Of course people like Koji Kondo (who wrote the classic Mario and Zelda themes), Kenji Yamamoto who's worked on Super Metroid and the Metroid Prime games, and Hajime Wakai who has worked on both Pikmin and Starfox games... these are the kind of people you would expect on this list. Who you might not expect on the list would be people like, Yoko Shimomura, who does the awesome music for the Kingdom Hearts games, Masato Kouda who did the music for Capcom's Devil May Cry and Tomoko Sasaki who worked on Sega's NiGHTS into Dreams game (although he doesnt work for Sega itself now, it's obvious he's worked for Sonic Team... could this mean he's done the music for the blue hedgehog?). There's a whole lot more who've worked on the music in the game, but i'll let you guys head over to the site to check it out yourselves.
Weapons. Always fun, a few new weapons have been announced. Along with the addition to move while fireing lazer pistols or charging up the super scope (which has been officially confirmed in a screenshot), which has now just made these cool weapons even better, The 'Cracker Launcher' looks like a big rocket launcher, but it fires a whole lot of firecrackers out, making people go 'ooh' and 'ahh' at all the pretty colours. Oh and they'll do damage to all those you shot with them (dont throw fireworks at people who dont star in video games). The Gooey Bomb acts just like the Proximity Mine, throw it, let it stick to something and wait for a poor sucker to go near it to blow up. The difference between the Gooey Bomb and the Mine is that the Gooey Bomb doesnt just stick to the stage, but to people as well. If you get this stuck to you, you better get it off quick or your going boom. The way the site suggests to get it off, is to run past another player, passing the bomb from you to them. Maybe you could pass it back to the guy who stuck it too you for ultimate irony?
Pokéballs are back and work just the same as the past, throw the ball, watch the Pokémon do its thing and hope it damages other players. 3 Pokémon have been confirmed so far, Chikorita and Goldeen are back doing what they did in melle (throw Razor Leaf and splash around doing nothing respectivly) but new to the scene is Groudon. He's big and fills up a lot of the screen. He's also hot to the touch, like Lava hot... but he's kind to his trainer, so whom ever threw Groudon out wont be effected.
The Smash Ball is a new item that answers an old question. In the last trailer, what was that awesome screen filling fireball thing Mario did (didn't see the trailer, it's still available to view via the Smash Bros Dojo). Once you've obtained the Smash Ball you can do the Final Smash. You can only do it once, but it's a very powerfull attack. Mario will fill the screen with a massive Fireball that puts Dragonball Z's Goku and his Kamehameha to shame. Other peoples final Smash hasnt been confirmed, but the last trailer showed Link continually slashing people trapped between 2 Triforce symbols.
But today, Friday June 8th the ultimate question has been finally answered (kinda). Just how are you going to contorl this game. Originally it was hinted that it was going to need the Gamecube controler to play, and you could use that if you've still got one. Not got one? The Classic Controler will do just as good. Not got a Classic Controler attachment? Well SSBB will also use the Remote and Nunchuck attachment as well. Nunchuck on the blink or in hiding? The game can also be played using just the wiimote on its side (although how you smash using it has yet to be explained, it'll probably be motion sensored). With 4 different control styles, there's enough to make everyone happy and suit anybody who has a Wii.
I wont update this with every update they make on the dojo, but anythime something cool comes up I'll let you guys know.
In the meantime, what do you think of all these new (and some old) stuff... what about the control system, 4 different ways to play? which one will you try first? And just how much do you want Super Smash Brothers Brawl? Lets get some discussion going around here.

Rumour has it the Ice Climbers have been dropped from SSBB.... can't say I'd be too disappointed if that were true, I was never particularly fond of them.
Also, did I hear wrong or did they also manage to rope in Nobuo Uematsu for the music? That would be the icing on the cake if true. Also interesting that they've got the NiGHTs guy roped in....with the sequel to NiGHTs Into Dreams coming to Wii, is there a chance for NiGHT (or whoever the main character is) as a playable character?
I love the idea of the sticky bomb, I can forsee countless hours of entertainment from that alone.
Good to hear they've got so many control schemes too. Think I'll stick to the good old Gamecube controller.

I wouldnt be too suprised if a few Melle characters were droped, but i would be suprised if those that were in the original (who all showed up in SSBM) didnt make it to Brawl. At standing, there's still a few of those missing from being officially announced, having said that, a couple of them, like Luigi and Jigglypuff, were 'secret' unlockable characters, so I'm not expecting to hear of their inclusion until right near release.
As for Nobuo Uematsu, he's not on the big list of Musicians. He did, however, do the music for the trailer(s) - whether that track makes it into the game though is not known. It did used to be on the Dojo site before they overhalled it, but it's been removed now.

Funny you mention Zelda, she was confirmed on the site just a couple of days ago... she's changed a bit since the last smash bros, mainly her hair colour. Instead of blonde, she's now a Brunette... it looks kind of cool and kind of strange at the same time.
Since I last made my last post the following has also been added to the site:
Fox, Samus, Wario and Zelda have all been confirmed and bios shown on the site. The Samus shown is standard Samus, with the full Power suit on. Still no details on how she becomes Zero Suit Samus yet. Fox and Wario have also had a couple of thier special moves mentioned. Fox still has his Gun 'B' move and his shield 'Down B' move. When they released his character bio on the site, 2 of the pictures showed what looked like his 'Up B' Fire jumping move and his 'Side B' Fox Illusion move, so it looks like move wise Fox is the same as he was in Melle.
Wario's two moves released (only just today) are his 'Side B' called the Wario Chopper. Wario brings out his motorbike and starts to ride it around the stage, you can pull the control stick the opposite way your driving to pull a 180 and drive the other way and use any attack to jump of the bike. only 1 bike appears on screen, so to get back on you've just got to go back to it. It sounds like it's possible to knock off Wario while he's on the bike. The other move is his 'Down B' Wario Waft. Wario lets rip with a gas attack from the rear. The interesting thing about this move is that the longer you dont use it for, the more powerful it will be. so those that dont use it straight away will produce a deadly explosion, while those that use it constantly will only produce minor poofs.
To go along with Mario's Final Smash move, 2 more Final Smash moves have been announced. Link's Triforce Smash (seen in the last trailer) has Link shot the triforce out the back of his hand, use it to capture someone and then proceed to slice and dice using the master sword.
Pikachu's Final Smash will be his Volt Tackle move from the game. Charging up a large amount of energy, Pikachu will charge across the screen. You can actually control the direction of the ball, so you your opponents wont be able to dodge your attack that easily but be warned, it looks like Pickachu will be stunned after using the move until he touches the ground, so if the move cuts out mid air, you wont be able to do anything (including recovery Jumps/Up B moves) until you hit the ground. Not helpfull if it cuts out over a gap.
Items: Only a couple of new items, one is the Banana Peal. Like the old slapstick joke, throwing one of these on the ground will cause someone to slipup and fall down when they walk across it. could be useful. The other item was some info on Barrels and Crates. In Brawl, the look of the barrels and crates will actually match the look of the stage, so while on the battlefield stage, the barrels and crates will look like they use to in melle. On the Starfox stage the barrels/crates will have a metalic look, making them more sci-fi. On Yoshi's stage, they'll be big presents (complete with ribbon on the top). Also there is a new type of crate with wheels on, meaning that once you hit it, it'll start to roll away from you, hitting anybody in its path. be carefull you dont knock it off the stage though.
Speaking of stages, a couple more were revield. On Yoshi's Island stage is a small stage with one platfom above the main one. A couple of rising 'support ghosts' can rise on either side of the stage adding an extra platform (helpfull if your falling) and Shy Guys will often float about the stage. This stage also goes through season changes (not in real time), changing from Spring to Summer to Autumn to Winter. weather they'll add any extra traps (like making the stage slippery in winter) is not mentioned.
The Starfox stage this time is a cruise throughout the Lylat System.Fighiting on the back of the (awesome looking) Pleiades, and before anybody askes, no there doesnt seem to be any ship by that name in any starfox game. the ship has been designed so that the back has one long platform on the bottom and three platforms on the top, giving some good space to battle, but not enough to hide. You'll be taken on a bit of a journey through the Lylat System, from the astorid belt, into the atmosphere of Corneria (though you dont seem to be burnt up on re-entry to the planet, it does however look cool) - upon leaving Corneria, your then take directly into a Space battle between some large crafts. Who exactly the crafts belong to I wouldnt know, as none seem to look like they're from any star fox game out at the moment.
2 more pieces of music are available for a listen. One is a Metroid track, remixing the Awesome Ridley boss fight. The other is a Zelda OOT melody, taking all the ocarina tunes and mixing them into one song. In the clip i can hear the Song of Storms, Epona's song, Saria's Song, Zelda's Lullaby and one of the warp songs (not sure which)
Another game feature has been annouced. Names are back. Entering in a Name into the system will allow your customised control system to be instantly selected by chosing your name from the list when picking your character. Not only can you use 1 of 4 different control methods, but you can also change the button configuration for each one as well, making this method for selecting your set up really quick and easier. They also mention that they are trying to get it so that you can save your personal button configeration to the internal memory within the Wii Remote, meaning that you could take your configuration to a friends house and play it on thier game. They do also appologize in advance if they are unable to make it happen, so this is a feature that may not be in the final version.
And that's all the updates which has happened since my last major post. I keep an eye on the site all the time (they update it every weekday) - i'll post in this again when either something major is announced or there's a lot to mention. Or you could check out the site yourself at http://www.smashbros.com as some really cool pictures are put up with each post (well apart from the music posts, but those have cool music playing in them).

Oh noez. Please don't let Ice Climbers be dropped. D:
*is the only human on Earth who actually uses Ice Climbers and considers them one of his best characters*
... I wouldn't be surprised if the following characters were also added: Daisy, Birdo, Diddy Kong. Though I also wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to be just clones of Peach, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong. /:

Arguably Daisy is already available in SSBM via one of Peach's skins.
I hope the drop the 'clone' characters ideas and give each character a fully unique moveset. I would suggest just dropping the clone characters altogether but Ganondorf is too awesome to drop. Wouldn't mind getting rid of Young Link over Link though.

I read about these Assist Statues. They're essentially Pokéballs, except they're from everything. Now the Pokéballs have competition.

it has been officially announced that Zero Suit Samus will NOT be a selectable character from the character select screen (kind of...) instead, the character is a by-product of Samus' final smash attack.
Charging up her arm cannon beyond recomended safty level and shoting a laser so powerfull it could destroy anything thing in its path, Samus' final smash is a killer for sure... unfortunatly it also kills the powersuit Samus wears, and the thing falls to pieces on the floor. This leaves Zero Suit Samus, armed with nothing but her standard issue galactic blaster (with alternate laser sworld mode), to fight on in the battle.
So that's how you play as Zero Suit Samus... whether you can do what you did with Shiek in melle and somehow select to play as Zero Suit Samus from the start is unknown... but since it was said from her first introduction that she was Normal Samus who somehow looses her suit during the battle, this is most likely the main way you can play as Zero Suit Samus.
Oh and the unusable power suit piece's lying on the floor can be picked up and thrown at people... so could be even more fun had by that.

Why drop Ice Climbers!!! One of the best characters in my opinon. Can deal loads of damage with dual hammers But your pink guy falls off the stage quite often... Also, has anybody realized that the characters look... ugly now? Sure they're more detailed and shiny, but somehow i think they're uber ugly and kirby is the only one that looks fine because he's unchanged. -.- Everyone is like only 3 heads tall. Even zero suit samus which they *tried* to look hawt looks stupid to me. Zelda is nice though. Just like in twilight princess. I also wouldnt want them to drop any characters because the game gets boring even with that much. Or maybe because they all have clones of themselves. (Although i somehow prefer the clones over the originals... *Dr.Mario, Ganondorf, Falco...*)
