Round 3 of the Elite 4 and WhoKnows_WhoCares is ready to take on those who have managed to beat his comrades. You may think you’ve faced a Dark team earlier in your journeys in seavicky95’s squad, but you haven’t faced anything like this one. There’s a reason he likes to call himself The Dark Trainer…. Because he trains Dark types, obviously.
Drapion kicks of this match, and the big nasty scorpion like Pokémon has a few surprises up its sleeve. Ground types are the only thing that will be super effective against Drapion, and Ice Fang is used to counter Ground Types. It also has a chance to either make the opponent Flinch, or Freeze it in place, so be warned. Crunch is a strong Dark type move with chance to lower your Defence, which would of course make its moves hit that bit harder. Sludge Bomb has a chance to Poison you, ebbing you health away a little bit each turn, and Aerial Ace is a Flying type version of Swift, always hitting its opponent regardless of accuracy.
Weavile comes with Dark Pulse, the favoured Dark move by most of this team. Along with being a pretty strong Dark move, it also has a chance to flinch the opponent. Being an Ice type, you should expect Weavile to come with some kind of Ice attack and Ice Beam does just that. If you’re thinking of using a Fire type against Weavile, watch out for Dig. It’ll bury itself underground avoiding an attack before hitting this Ground attack. Thinking of using a Fighting type against Weavile (or any of WhoKnows_WhoCares’ team) Aerial Ace will hit you hard as Flying is super effective against Fighting. And, as mentioned above, it never misses.
Honchkrow uses Steel Wing to counter most of its weaknesses, those mainly being Rock and Ice. Fly is to be used against any Fighting types once again, missing a turn in the air before hitting this Flying type move. Psychic again is to mainly take Fighting types, but, like Fly, it’ll be used to hit anything that it can hurt. Dark Pulse once again pops up in the move set.
Skuntank is an annoying Pokémon. If you’ve brought any Pokémon that are stronger than Skuntank, Punishment will take advantage. The higher the opponents stats are, the stronger the user will become. Of course using a weaker Pokémon is going to get you destroyed, so it’s a bit of a catch 22 with this one. Flamethrower is a pretty powerful fire move with a chance to burn, and Sludge Bomb is the same as when Drapion threw it at you. Explosion is an enormously powerful move, so much so that nobody can really survive its blast. Luckily for you, it’ll also take itself out, so don’t expect Skuntank to use the move until its health is low. If you mange to knock out Skuntank before it gets explosion out, watch out for its Aftermath ability. If Skuntank gets KO’d with a direct attack, it will cause the opponent damage up to 1 quarter of Skuntank’s maximum health. Just a little bit of Payback.
Spiritomb is the ultimate Fighting Pokémon defence, being part Ghost makes it immune to Fighting and Normal type moves, and of course that part Dark means it’s immune to Psychic types too. And with Psychic in its move set as well, it’s a big pain to Fighting types. Nasty Plot raises Spiritomb’s Special Attack sharply, so look for it to pull a couple of these out before it uses its other moves. Ominous Wind is an interesting Ghost type move, as not only will it damage the opponent, but there’s a chance that it will raise all Spiritomb’s stats. Dark Pulse is, once again, the Dark move of choice.
Umbreon might looks like it’s a push over, but high Defence and Special Defence stats means this is one tough little Pokémon. With Psychic in its move sets, any Fighting types trying to beat Umbreon up will be in for a shock. Dig will allow it to miss being attacked for a turn before striking anything not a Flying type (or has the Levitation ability). Moonlight will heal up Umbreon, meaning that a tough job to damage becomes even tougher. Plus if you decide to take on the Elite 4 during the night, Moonlight will heal Umbreon even more. Faint Attack is a surprising change from Dark Pulse as the Dark move of choice. Faint Attack is a Dark version of Swift and Aerial Ace in that it will always hit its opponent regardless of its accuracy or its opponent’s evasion.
So did you manage to get this far? Beat the 3rd Elite 4 Member? It’s not an easy road to take, but it’s almost over. Just 1 more hurdle to go and then it will all finally be over.
