Why do people call the place where you buy attacks TM/HM shop?
.....I don't see any HM!

It is called TM/HM even though there are no HMs because there haven't been any HMs created yet, I don't think.

By 8 HMs he means Cut, Flash, Strength, Fly, Waterfall, Surf, Whirlpool, and Dive, if I am not mistaken...

RBYG's HM:Cut,Fly,Surf,Strength,and Flash
GSC's:Cut,Fly,Surf,Strength, Flash,Rock Smash,and Whirlpool.
RS's:Cut,Fly,Surf,Strength, Flash,Rock Smash,Waterfall,Dive
FRLG's:Cut,Fly,Surf,Strength, Flash,Rock Smash,Waterfall,
These are all the HM's. The total is 9 I think

Slightly off topic but why did they get rid of whirlpool and replace it with dive? They do the same thing - you used whirlpool to get underwater to catch Lugia in G/S/C, now you use dive to go underwater. Doesn't seem to have a point

If my memory was correct,
Whirlpool HM7 was replace with Waterfall HM7 in RS.
Maybe they thought that name would be more suitable, since there are no whirlpools in RS

Well...no.Whirlpool lets you go
across whirlpools and dive lets you go under water in some places.
