Gym 3 and we’re really getting on the journey now. She may look all nice, happy and friendly but seavicky95 doesn’t want you to go any further than her in our Pokémon league. In fact she wants to leave you in the dark so much, that she’s turned out the lights on her gym (yes, that was the best line I could come up with). With a maze inside a dark gym and trainers hiding all over the place, getting to seavicky95 won’t be easy, of course once you find her, beating her is another thing to do entirely.
Umbreon kicks of seavicky95’s dark team, and what a start. Confuse Ray will quick off, confusing your Pokémon trying to make it hurt itself, Pursuit hurts more if you try to switch out your Pokémon, Faint Attack is the Dark equivalent of Swift, meaning it will always hits, and Quick Attack just for that quick hit it might need to finish you off. This Umbreon is set up quite well to attack its opponents.
Absol has some interesting tactics for this fight. Taunt will force you to use attack moves, which is bad news fall all those who would want to boost up their stats or lower Absol’s. Slash has a high chance for a critical hit, Bite can make you flinch while Future Sight will produce an attack a couple of moves down the line, even if Absol isn’t around anymore. Look for Absol to kick of with Taunt, and then just before its going to be fainted use Future Sight to get a bit of revenge.
Poochyena has Taunt as well, usually starting off with it as Absol did. Sand-Attack lowers your accuracy, making it more likely to miss. Crunch is for a powerful attack move, while Roar will get rid of anything Poochyena doesn’t like the look of. While it doesn’t have many attack moves to use, it can have lasting effects that will plague your Pokémon after you’ve taken this one down.
Mightyena has a few more attacks to choose from, though look for it to use Swagger first. It will increase your attack stat but make you confused, the idea being that you will do more damage to yourself than you would usually do. Thief may not do much damage, but its not there to hurt. It will try to take any items you may be holding, which would be bad for you if your holding a berry for whatever purpose. Shadow Ball is a nice little Ghost move (unless you’re on the receiving end of it) and of course you’ll have met Bite before. This one could be tough, but you should be used to tough by now.
Houndoom is the last Pokémon in seavicky95’s squad, but it might make an appearance earlier in the fight. Beat up allows you to attack as many times as you have non-fainted or non status affected Pokémon in your party. So assuming Houndoom comes out first, Beat Up would attack 5 times in one turn, meaning it’s very effective for Houndoom to use this really early in the battle. Torment means that you won’t be able to use the same move twice in a row, while Howl will boost its attack power (mainly useful for Beat up). And of course Flamethrower will just roast most Pokémon it can. While it looks like Fighting Types will take out most of seavicky95’s team, there are enough surprises in her squad to show that it won’t be easy to do. Still, if you manage it, you can get your hands on the third badge and move onwards.
