Gym 6 now and your nearly at the end. The problem is that the Dragon Master Pikachu90000 is in your way trying to stop you from conquering the league. Getting to Pikachu90000 is a bit of a guessing game, as walking into the Gym lets you chose between 3 doors. One door will lead you to a waiting trainer, one door will lead you to a completely empty room while the third will lead you outside, where you’ll have to go right back to the beginning and try again. Passing through five of these choices will finally lead you to the leader, and to your next match.
Pikachu90000 will kick of his match with Flygon, and its part Ground type makes it immune to the effects of Sandstorm. Look for that to start the match. Dragon Claw is a Dragon type move, these will only be resisted by Steel types, which would be your best shot in this fight if it weren’t for Flamethrower. Return hits harder when the Pokémon has a high friendship level with its trainer, so look for this to hit quite hard.
Dragonair comes with 2 Dragon type attacks. Dragon Rush maybe more powerful than Dragon Pulse, and it may have a chance to make the opponent flinch, but it’s only got 3 quarters of the accuracy. Look for both those moves to be used depending on whether Pikachu90000 wants to use power or accuracy. Thunderbolt will take out any water types with Ice Beam, as that will be this whole team’s main worry. Ice Beam will be deadly against any Dragon Types you might want to throw out of your own, especially if they’re part Flying as well since that would be 4 times the damage.
Altaira is equipped with Sky Attack as its flying type move, which is a 2 turn attack, charging up for the first and striking the second. Earthquake is one to strike all those annoying Electric types trying to take advantage of that part Flying type of Altaria. Hidden Power is an interesting move as its type changes depending on a complex mathematical formula using a bunch of hidden values assigned to the Pokémon. After working out all the formulas, values and so forth, I threw that all out of the window, got Alteria to smack a Keckleon and found out that its Hidden Power is Grass type. This would be disadvantaged for any Water types with Ice Beam. Dragon Claw is the Dragon move of choice for Alteria.
Salamence is deadly with Thunder fang taking out all those Water types, Ice Beam being an extra worry with Salamence being both Dragon and Flying. Brick Break is a fighting type move useful against those Dragon resisting Steel types. Dragon Claw may be the more common used Dragon move by Salamence, but it also comes with Draco Meteor. A scary move, this is the most powerful Dragon Move ever invented. Thankfully (for you anyway) it comes with a price, it will lower the users Special Attack, meaning that every time it’s used its, its power will be reduced the next time. Since all Salamence’s other attacks are Physical though, this little side effect won’t matter too much to it.
It may not look like it, but Garchomp is part Dragon and part Ground, meaning it’s going to use the same tactic with Sandstorm as Flygon. Unless you’ve been 1 hit KOing the rest of the squad, chances are the last one has worn off by now, so Garchomp will bring it back. Flamethrower once again is there to take care of any Steel types trying to avoid getting hit by Sandstorm and resisting Dragon Moves. Garchomp’s Dragon move of choice is Dragon Pulse, while Aerial Ace rounds out his move set. This Flying move will strike every time regardless of accuracy. The only way to avoid this type of attack is by either Digging, Diving, Flying or Bouncing. So it’ll hit and hurt most Pokémon.
Dragonite may be the last of Pikachu90000’s Pokémon, doesn’t mean it’s a push over. Dragon Claw is its standard Dragon move, and having met it so many times before, you should know what its like by now. Thunder Punch will take out all those Water types we’ve mentioned so many times, Aqua Tail is a strong Water type move, while Stone Edge is a Rock type move that has a high chance of being a critical hit. And since Rock is strong against Ice types, all the usual suspects for Ice Beam users are covered here. Finally beating Pikachu90000 you get to claim your 6th badge. Only 2 gyms left to go, the end may be in sight, but it’s the toughest part of the journey now. Having said that, after coming all this way, you should be ready to deal with anything we could throw at you, right?
