Heart Gold and Soul Silver dated for Release

The Official site for Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver got a very small update today, but it was with some important information. The release date for the Japanese launch of HG/SS will be September 12th (a Saturday, if your interested). They will be on sale for ¥4800 each. This is around the same time as the past few years when Pokemon games have been released (Diamond/Pearl and Platinum all were released in September in Japan). If the US and European releases follow the same as they have for the past couple of years, the US should see the games around early Spring/Easter time while Europe should see it around late Spring/early Summer. Those are guesses however and as soon as we know the actuall release date’s for those two areas, we’ll let you know.

In other Pokemon news, Pokemon Center stores in Japan are giving away some special Jirachi merchandice in celebration of the Tanabata festival in August. From 21st July to Aug 26th, Showing the special Jirachi knowing Draco Meteor (available for download over Wi-fi on all Japanese Diamond, Pearl and Platinum games between June 19th to July 17) will get you the special Jirachi merchandice. The store will also be selling a special Jirachi Plush Doll on July 1st for ¥980

That’s all we have for now – we’ll bring you more when we learn about it

Oha Suta releases new Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver info

Japanese television show Oha Suta aired recently giving us some more insight into how events work in Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver.

Pichu event in action

When players travel to Ilex Forest with Pikachu coloured Pichu (a movie event download) tagging along, Notch-eared Pichu will jump out from behind the shrine. An old man then comes out and explains things in more detail.

More information about Arceus has also been revealed. The Arceus given away at cinemas in Japan will unlock a new region called Shinto Ruins if traded to Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver. However to unlock the region Arceus must first be brought along to the Ruins of Alph where Cynthia will be waiting.

The Unown will then gather around Arceus before an egg is made of either Dialga, Palkia or Giratina.

Kanto confirmed to be in Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver

Pokemon site pkmn.net has recently reported that the scans from CoroCoro confirm that the Kanto region WILL be included in Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver. I’m sure this will be endearing news to any long time Pokemon fan who wishes to relive those younger days playing the originals on Gameboy. I know this game is going to be a nostalgia rush for me.

Mysterious New Area

Mysterious New Area

It’s not all rehashing, however. A new area has been spotted on the new Johto map that wasn’t there before. Other than its West Cianwood City who knows what this is, but stay tuned as once we know we’ll let you know!

Official Japanese Heart Gold/Soul Silver Site Opens

The official Heart Gold/Soul Silver site section of pokemon.co.jp has opened, bringing not much new information but some nice quality screenshots and pictures. Click on the pictures below for bigger versions.

Clearer CoroCoro scans emerge

Courtesy of Japanese website 2chan.net, clearer magazine scans have been uploaded which reveal some more new information. Listed below is the new information, hit the jump for all of the clearer scans.

  • The Pokédex has a redesigned model and features two colours depending on the gender of the trainer, red for male and pink for female.
  • The touch screen is to feature more predominantely. You can organise your PC, Pokédex and bag items using the touch screen interface.
  • A large scan of the map of Johto suggests players can head west into Kanto. Whether Kanto features in HG/SS is unconfirmed but seems likely as Kanto featured in the original Gold/Silver games.
  • Confirmed! Any of the 493 Pokemon can follow you around and you can talk to them to see how they are feeling at any time.
  • The Pikachu-coloured Pichu given out at recent events in Japan will trigger an event featuring notch-eared Pichu in Ilex Forest, previous home to Celebi.
  • More information about the special event Jirachi has been revealed. It’s available as a WiFi download event in Japan at DS Download Stations and Nintendo Zone areas. Apparently if it’s traded to HG/SS, it will unlock something. Its stats are as follows:
    • Level 5 holding Liechi Berry
    • Knows Wish, Confusion, Rest, Draco Meteor
  • Lastly, pre-orders begin for the game on 4th July in Japan. If you pre-order Heart Gold, you will get a Ho-Oh figure. If you pre-order Soul Silver, you will get a Lugia figure. Pre-order both and you’ll get an Arceus figure.

Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver to come with Pedometer

Another Pokemon Sunday, another update regarding Heart Gold/Soul Silver. This time it’s a pedometer, in the same vain as the Pocket Pikachu from so long ago.

Pedometer

Pedometer

As you can see above, the design is taken after that of a regular Pokéball. It has three face buttons and a monochrome display. You can transmit one Pokemon from your Heart Gold/Soul Silver game to it via what is assumed to be (judging by the picture) an infrared sensor on your game card. As you walk around with the pedometer, your Pokemon gains experience points and happiness.  Mini-games will be included.

It’s unknown if this will be available outside of Japan as of yet.

New Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver footage

We’re a bit behind on this so I apologise but better late than never. The Pika Club has unearthed some footage from Pokemon Sunday showing a short clip of Heart Gold/Soul Silver in action.

Significantly the footage shows the trainer wandering around outside Slowpoke Well with Totodile following him. This would appear to suggest that the Pokemon follow you like in Pokemon Yellow and are not limited to any particular areas such as New Bark Town.

Just One More Thing…

In the last post I said that we knew 3 things about Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver thanks to the latest issue of CoroCoro magazine. Clearer shots of some pages have revealed one more thing, the bottom screen of the DS. Hidden on the left corner of the page with the female trainer (where the fold in the book just happens to be) is a picture of the male hero in front of Elm’s lab. Nothing special, the Pokemon Sunday footage showed that. What this shot does show, is a green menu with icons on it. This is the lower screen of the DS, and the menu is the main menu of the game (with ‘Pokemon’, ‘Bag’, ‘Your Name’, ‘Save’… THAT menu) Currently missing from that menu in the screen shot is Pokedex, probably because its taken too early in the adventure to have the dex yet. Anyway, here’s the picture with menu:

Also we’ve got a better shot of the picture you’ll see when entering sprite tower (ignore the part of the male trainers leg that cuts the corner of the picture):
